"RFS" means a radio apparatus standard prescribed by the Secretary of Commerce.
(2) Expressions defined in the Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations 1993 have the meaning so defined.
(3) A reference in this notice to a CISPR publication or to an Australian Standard/New Zealand Standard or to a European Standard or a Code of Federal Regulations publication or a RFS standard includes a reference to every amendment to that publication, which is in effect on the date on which this notice comes into force.
(4) For the purpose of determining whether interfering equipment that is included within the scope of a publication specified below complies with the publication, the equipment shall be tested, and the results of such tests shall be interpreted, in accordance with the publication.
- Standards for industrial, scientific and medical radio frequency equipment—(1) Industrial, scientific and medical radio frequency equipment are hereby prescribed as classes of interfering equipment.
(2) The level of conformity applicable to the classes of interfering equipment to which subclause (1) of this clause applies shall be level 1.
(3) Subject to subclauses (5) and (6) of this clause, the standard applicable to the classes of interfering equipment to which subclause (1) of this clause applies shall be—
(a) CISPR publication 11, 1990; or
(b) Australian Standard/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 2064.1, 1992; or
(c) European Standard EN55011, 1991.
(4) Interfering equipment falling within the classes referred to in subclause (1) of this clause shall comply with one of the standards specified in subclause (3) of this clause.
(5) Classes of interfering equipment to which subclause (1) of this clause applies need not comply with the limits specified in—
(a) CISPR publication 11, 1990; or
(b) Australian Standard/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 2064.1, 1992; or
(c) European Standard EN55011, 1991—
for emissions on frequencies above one gigahertz.
(6) The frequencies designated for industrial, scientific and medical radio frequency equipment for the purposes of—
(a) CISPR publication 11, 1990; or
(b) Australian Standard/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 2064.1, 1992; or
(c) European Standard EN55011, 1991
shall be as specified in the Schedule to this notice.
- Standards for sound and television broadcast receivers and associated equipment—(1) Sound and television broadcast receivers and associated equipment are hereby prescribed as classes of interfering equipment.
(2) The level of conformity applicable to the classes of interfering equipment to which subclause (1) of this clause applies shall be level 1.
(3) The standard applicable to the classes of interfering equipment to which subclause (1) of this clause applies shall be—
(a) CISPR publication 13, 1990; or
(b) Australian Standard/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 1053, 1992; or
(c) European Standard EN55013, 1990.
(4) Interfering equipment falling within the classes referred to in subclause (1) of this clause shall comply with one of the standards specified in subclause (3) of this clause.
(5) For the purposes of complying with any of the standards prescribed in subclause (3) of this clause, a minimum of 3 samples of the interfering equipment shall be tested using the statistical method of evaluation described in the standards.
- Standards for appliances the main functions of which are performed by motors and switching or regulating devices, unless the radio-frequency energy is intentionally generated or intended for illumination—(1) Appliances the main functions of which are performed by motors and switching or regulating devices, unless the radio-frequency energy is intentionally generated or intended for illumination, including household electrical appliances, electric tools, regulating controls using semiconductor devices, motor-driven electro-medical apparatus, electric toys, automatic dispensing machines, and cine or slide projectors, are hereby prescribed as classes of interfering equipment.
(2) The level of conformity applicable to the classes of interfering equipment to which subclause (1) of this clause applies shall—
(a) If they include—
(i) A switched-mode power supply; or
(ii) An electronic transformer; or
(iii) An electronic lighting ballast; or
(iv) A microprocessor or other clocked digital device; or
(v) A commutator or slip ring motor; or
(vi) A motor speed controller—
be level 1; or
(b) If they do not include any of the features specified in paragraph (a) of this subclause, be level 0.
(3) The standard applicable to the classes of interfering equipment referred to in subclause (1) of this clause shall be—
(a) CISPR publication 14, 1993;
(b) Australian Standard/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 1044, 1992;
(c) European Standard EN55014, 1987.
(4) Interfering equipment falling within the classes referred to in subclause (1) of this clause shall comply with one of the standards specified in subclause (3) of this clause.
(5) For the purposes of complying with any of the standards prescribed in subclause (3) of this clause, a minimum of 3 samples of the interfering equipment shall be tested using the statistical method of evaluation described in the standards.
- Standards for lighting equipment with a primary purpose of generating and/or distributing light, the lighting part of multi-function equipment, independent auxiliaries, ultra-violet and infra-red radiation devices, neon advertising signs, and street and flood lighting—(1) Lighting equipment with a primary purpose of generating and/or distributing light, the lighting part of multi-function equipment, independent auxiliaries, ultra-violet and infra-red radiation devices, neon advertising signs, and street and flood lighting are hereby prescribed as classes of interfering equipment.
(2) The level of conformity applicable to the classes of interfering equipment to which subclause (1) of this clause applies shall—
(a) If they include an electronic transformer or electronic lighting ballast, be level 1; or
(b) If they do not include an electronic transformer or electronic lighting ballast, be level 0.
(3) The standard applicable to the classes of interfering equipment referred to in subclause (1) of this clause shall be—
