VETERINARY CERTIFICATE.
I, ...................., being a Veterinary Officer authorised by the Australian Government certify with respect to the horses identified in part I of the Zoo-Sanitary Certificate that:
- Residency
1.1 The horse/s have been;
either 1.1.1 resident in Australia or New Zealand since birth;
or 1.1.2 have been imported into Australia and have passed all post-arrival quarantine restrictions and are eligible for release into the Australian national herd.

1.2 Any mare that is, or may be, pregnant has been resident in Australia or New Zealand since last being mated.
- Horses Originating in Tick Areas
either 2.1 The horse/s have not been in the tick areas of Australia during the previous 2 months;
or 2.2 The horse/s left the tick areas during the previous 2 months. The certificate of treatment against ticks from the border control post has been sighted;
or 2.3 The animals have been resident in ‘Approved Stables’ under the supervision of officials of the Department of Primary Industries for a minimum period of 14 days immediately prior to embarkation for New Zealand. During this period the horse/s have been subjected to three clean treatments with an approved acaricide.

3.1 During the twelve months immediately prior to the date of export Australia has been free from African horse sickness, contagious equine metritis, dourine, epizootic lymphangitis, equine influenza, equine piroplasmosis (Babesia caballi, Babesia equi), equine viral encephalomyelitis, glanders, Potomac fever, surra and vesicular stomatitis.

4.1 For the past 21 days each animal has been free from signs of equine viral arteritis, equine viral abortion (EHV1), coital exanthema (EHV3) and strangles and has not been in contact with any horse suffering from these diseases or any horse not meeting the residency requirements in part 1 above.
4.2 During the 21 days preceding export no case of equine infectious anaemia (EIA) has occurred on any property where the animal/s has/have been located or on any property within a radius of 30km from these locations.
- Pregnant Mares
5.1 Each mare that is, or may be, pregnant was;
either 5.1.1 mated to a stallion, or inseminated with semen, that was eligible for export to New Zealand;
or 5.1.2 last mated/inseminated more than 40 days prior to export.

6.1 Blood samples were collected from each horse in the consignment within 14 days of shipment and subjected to the following tests;
6.1.1 equine infectious anaemia using the Agar Gel Immunodiffusion (AGID) test (Coggin’s test) or the ELISA test with negative results.

6.2 entire males older than 24 months of age (actual age) at the time of export were subjected to:
either 6.2.1 the serum neutralisation test for equine viral arteritis (EVA) with negative result during the 21 days prior to export and at least 21 days after its last service. The horse has not been used for service since the collection of this test sample.

or 6.2.2 subsequent to being found positive to a serum neutralisation test for EVA on .....................(date), the entire male horse/s were further tested for EVA using one or both of the following methods:
6.2.2.1 semen culture of sperm rich fractions of two semen samples, collected without the use of detergents or disinfectants on the animals or the collection equipment, with negative results in each case.
