Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations, and Retirements of Officers of the New Zealand Army

Pursuant to sections 28 (2) and 32 of the Defence Act 1990, Her Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army.

REGULAR FORCE

Chief of General Staff

Major General Bruce Meldrum, C.B., O.B.E., is transferred to the Army Reserve, General List of Officers, with effect from 1 March 1992.

Brigadier A.L. Birks, O.B.E., to be Major General with seniority and effect from 1 March 1992, is appointed Chief of General Staff for a period of 3 years, and transferred to the Generals’ List.

Colonels’ List

Colonel David George Flux, O.B.E., is posted to the Retired List with effect from 5 October 1991.

Colonel T.J. McComish is re-engaged until 6 April 1993.

Royal Regiment of N.Z. Artillery

Lieutenant Colonel A.D. Ross to be temporary Colonel with effect from 16 December 1991.

The following Majors to be acting Lieutenant Colonel from the date shown, and temporary Lieutenant Colonel with effect from 16 December 1991:

Temporary Major J.F.A. Dowrick to be Major with seniority from 20 June 1991 and effect from 26 September 1991.

Captain M.A. Armour is transferred to the Territorial Force with effect from 31 August 1991.

Temporary Major Richard Lee Charles Odom is transferred from the Army Reserve, General List of Officers, in the rank of Captain with seniority from 9 February 1987 and effect from 17 September 1991.

Temporary Captain D.J. Strong, B.A., to be Captain with seniority and effect from 14 December 1991.

Acting Captain B.W. Horner to be temporary Captain with effect from 16 December 1991.
