(b) In respect of any review of an unemployment benefit, a statement by the person (in the absence of evidence to the contrary) that he or she has taken steps to obtain suitable work in accordance with that statement of intent.

  1. For the purposes of this direction, a person shall be accepted as being continuously in receipt of benefit where the period of receipt of benefit is broken by a period of temporary employment (within the meaning of the Act), but the period of temporary employment shall not be taken into account in calculating the period of receipt of benefit.

  2. In this direction, unless the context otherwise requires, "benefit" means an unemployment benefit under section 58 of the Act, an emergency benefit paid instead of unemployment benefit under section 61 of the Act, or a sickness benefit under section 54 of the Act.

  3. This direction shall take effect on the 1st day of April 1992.

and I FURTHER DIRECT that from the date this direction takes effect, unemployment benefit under section 58 of the Act applied for by, or paid to, any person of or over the age of 55 years, shall be known as "the 55+ Benefit".

International Air Services Licensing Act 1947

Notice of Application for the Renewal of an International Air Service Licence

Pursuant to section 15 of the International Air Services Licensing Act 1947, notice is hereby given that Continental Airlines, Inc. has applied for the renewal of its International Air Service Licence to operate air services for the carriage of passengers, cargo and mail between the United States of America, New Zealand and Australia from 1 July 1992, and that it is proposed the renewal be granted for a period of 5 years from that date. Further details of this application and proposal may be obtained from the Acting General Manager, Air Transport Division, Ministry of Transport, P.O. Box 31-441, Lower Hutt.

Any person or organisation desiring to make representations relating to this application, must forward those representations in writing to reach me on or before 16 April 1992.

Income Tax Act 1976

Notice Advising of a Change in the Rate of Interest Applicable to Tax in Dispute

Pursuant to Sections 34A (3) and 398 (4) of the Income Tax Act 1976

Notice is hereby given in pursuance of the Income Tax Act 1976, that the rate of interest applicable to tax in dispute will be changed from the current 13.5% to a lower rate of 10% from 1 April 1992. This change reflects the downward trend in interest rates since the last adjustment in 1989.

Public Finance Act 1989

Notice of Indemnity Given Pursuant to Section 59 (1) of the Public Finance Act 1989β€”Commerce Commission

Pursuant to section 59 (2) of the Public Finance Act 1989, the Minister of Finance makes the following statement:

On the 12th day of November 1991, I, Ruth Margaret Richardson, Minister of Finance, gave an indemnity, pursuant to section 59 (1) of the Public Finance Act 1989, to the Commerce Commission to indemnify the Commission for damages awarded by the Court against the Commission when:

(a) The Commission makes an application to the Court under either Part VI of the Commerce Act or section 41 of the Fair Trading Act for an interim injunction; and

(b) The Court requires the Commission to give an undertaking as to damages; and

(c) The Court subsequently orders the Commission to pay damages.

The maximum payable under the indemnity is $40,000,000 per case taken to Court.
