(2) This notice shall come into force on the 28th day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.
- Interpretation—In this notice, unless the context otherwise requires—
“Dependent child” in relation to any person, means a child or step-child of that person who has not turned 20.
- Certain foreign students exempted from payment of fees—Foreign students of the following kinds of descriptions are hereby exempted from the payment of all fees fixed or prescribed, pursuant to section 48 of the Education Act 1989:
(a) Foreign students studying in New Zealand under an exchange programme approved by the New Zealand Government;
(b) Foreign students who are dependent children of any person who is the holder of an unexpired work permit granted under the Immigration Act 1987;
(c) Foreign students who:
(i) Were enrolled at a registered school in New Zealand before the 1st day of January 1989; and
(ii) Have been continuously enrolled at one or more such schools since that day; and
(iii) Meet the requirements of the Immigration Act 1987 for undertaking a course of study in New Zealand.
(d) Foreign students who are dependent children of any person who, during the current calendar year, last ceased to be exempt, pursuant to section 11 (1) (a) of the Immigration Act 1987, from the requirement to hold a permit under that Act;
(e) Foreign students who are dependent children of students studying in New Zealand under an exchange programme approved by the New Zealand Government.
- Revocation—This notice revokes and replaces the Education (Foreign Students School Fees Exemptions) Notice 1990, published in the Gazette of 15 February 1990 (No. 23, page 450).

Correspondence School Board of Trustees Notice 1992
Pursuant to sections 95 (1) and (2) of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education gives the following notice.
Notice
- (a) This notice may be cited as the Correspondence School Board of Trustees Notice 1992.
(b) This notice shall take effect the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
- The Correspondence School Board of Trustees shall be constituted as follows:
(a) the principal of the Correspondence School;
(b) six (6) parent representatives elected by parents of full-time students enrolled at the Correspondence School and attending no other school;
(c) two (2) staff representatives elected by and from the staff of the Correspondence School;
(d) one (1) student representative elected by and from the full-time students enrolled in Form 4 and above of the Correspondence School;
(e) five (5) co-opted members, who between them will provide the board with experience in all of the following education sectors:
– early childhood education
– primary education
– secondary education
– adult education
– the needs of children requiring special education
- The Correspondence School Board of Trustees Notice 1992 published in the New Zealand Gazette of 23 April 1992, No. 57, page 1166 is hereby revoked.

Te Kura Kaupapa Maori A Rohe O Ruatoki
Pursuant to sections 146 and 155 of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice.
Notice

This notice may be cited as Te Kura Kaupapa Maori A Rohe O Ruatoki.
-
This notice shall come into force on the 1st day of September 1992.
-
I hereby designate Ruatoki School as a kura kaupapa Maori.
-
Aims, purposes and objectives of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori A Rohe O Ruatoki:
(i) Ko te Wharekura he papa-ahuru whakatipu i nga taitara kia toa rangatira i roto i to ratou Tuhoetanga, i te matauranga hoki.
The school will be a positive learning environment, challenging students’ cultural leadership, responsibility, and academic excellence.
(ii) He whakanui i te whanaungatanga o te wharekura ki tona iwi kainga; e matemate-a-onetia ai nga taitara kia hihiri.
To enhance community and school relations thereby promoting student achievement.
(iii) He whakataki kaupapa akoranga e matatau ai nga taitara ki nga tikanga a hinegaro e rua, ara, Maori, Pakeha.
To practise a quality assurance bi-cultural literacy programme in Maori and English.
(iv) He whakapumau i te reo Maori puta noa i te wharekura.
Maori will be established as the principal operational language of the school.
(v) He whai kia matawhanui te kaupapa o te kura ki nga tumanako o nga taitara kia pono ki nga tikanga o te iwi.
Ensure that the curriculum is responsive to the needs of the students and aspirations of the school’s community.
- Constitution of the board of trustees—The board of trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori A Rohe O Ruatoki shall comprise:
(a) 5 elected parent representatives.
(b) 4 co-opted members.
(c) The principal.
(d) A staff representative.
