Defence Act 1990

Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations and Retirements of Officers of the Royal New Zealand Navy

Pursuant to sections 8 (1), 28 (1) and 32 of the Defence Act 1990, Her Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Naval Forces.

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVY

Chief of Defence Force

Rear Admiral S. F. Teagle to be Vice Admiral with seniority and effect from 29 March 1991, and is appointed Chief of Defence Force for a period of 3 years.

Chief of Naval Staff

Commodore J. A. Hunter to be Rear Admiral with seniority and effect from 29 March 1991, and is appointed Chief of Naval Staff for a period of 3 years.

The appointment of Captain J. A. Westphal, O.B.E., is extended until 1 April 1992.

Captain Robert John Eckford, O.B.E., is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserves with effect from 1 November 1990.

The following are placed on the Retired List of the RNZN with effect from the date shown:

Commander Richard Denis Cass, B.SC., 19 January 1991.
Lieutenant Commander Ken Mervyn Mutch, M.B.E., 4 March 1991.
Acting Commander David Lloyd Beresford Marriott, 16 January 1991 (in the rank of Commander).
Acting Commander L. Robbins to be Commander with seniority and effect from 1 December 1990, and his appointment is extended until 6 December 2001.
Lieutenant Commander Stephen Paul Corich, B.SC., DIP.TCHG.
