Social Security Act 1964

Direction by the Minister of Social Welfare

In the matter of section 5 of the Social Security Act 1964:

To: The Director-General of Social Welfare.

Pursuant to section 5 (2) of the Social Security Act 1964, I, Jennifer Mary Shipley, Minister of Social Welfare, hereby direct that in the exercise of your discretion to grant special benefit under section 61G of that Act, in respect of applications for that benefit received on and after the 1st day of April 1991, and in respect of any renewals of that benefit on or after that date, that, except in exceptional circumstances, such a benefit shall only be granted or renewed if there is a deficiency of at least $20 per week between the applicant’s total income and the applicant’s essential expenditure calculated in accordance with the department’s current policy for the time being.

Direction by the Minister of Social Welfare

In the matter of section 5 of the Social Security Act 1964:

To: The Director-General of Social Welfare.

Pursuant to section 5 (2) of the Social Security Act 1964, I, Jennifer Mary Shipley, Minister of Social Welfare, hereby direct that in the exercise of your powers under section 60J of the Social Security Act 1964, you shall be satisfied that an applicant has a good and sufficient reason to decline an offer of suitable employment if:

(a) the applicant is under the age of 20 years and the wages or salary offered is less than the amount of the principal benefit that the applicant was entitled to receive at the date of that offer of employment plus $15 a week; or

(b) the applicant has attained the age of 20 years and the wages or salary offered is in contravention of the Minimum Wage Act 1983.

International Air Services Licensing Act 1947

Notice of Intention to Amend an International Air Service Licence

Notice is hereby given that I intend to exercise the power conferred on me by section 14 of the International Air Services Licensing Act 1947, to amend the terms of the International Air Service Licence issued to Singapore Airlines Limited so as to allow the airline to operate a second weekly return B747 freighter service from Singapore to Christchurch and/or Auckland via Sydney or Melbourne.

This amendment will take effect on 1 September 1991.

Notice of Intention to Amend an International Air Service Licence

Pursuant to section 14A of the International Air Services Licensing Act 1947, notice is hereby given that United Airlines Incorporated has applied for an amendment to its International Air Service Licence to permit the airline to operate return services over the routing: United States of America to New Zealand and beyond to Australia. Further details of this proposal may be obtained from the General Manager of the Air Transport Division, Ministry of Transport, P.O. Box 31-441, Lower Hutt.

Any person or organisation wishing to make representations relating to this application must forward those representations in writing to reach me on or before 30 May 1991.
