Area Health Board’s Act 1983

The Hospitals Medical Information Notice 1991

This notice replaces the Hospitals Medical Information Notice 1990 made on 26 October 1990.

Pursuant to section 50 (4) (1) of the Area Health Board’s Act 1983, in exercise of the power of the Minister of Health, the following notice is hereby given:

Notice

1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Hospitals Medical Information Notice 1991.

(2) This notice shall come into force on the day after the day of execution hereof.

2. Disclosure of medical information to Committee of Inquiry into the death at Carrington Hospital of a patient, Manihera Mansel Watene, and other related matters which was established by warrant dated the 15th day of September 1990—(1) Any person to whom section 50 of the Area Health Board’s Act 1983 applies may, in accordance with subsection 4 (1) of that section, disclose to any of the persons named in subclause (2) of this clause for the purpose of the inquiry, any information—

(a) Which concerns the condition or medical history of Manihera Mansel Watene and any other person who is to appear as a witness before the Committee of Inquiry and who is, or has been, a patient at Carrington Hospital.

(2) The persons to whom information may be disclosed in accordance with section 50 (4) (1) of the Area Health Board’s Act 1983, pursuant to subclause (1) of this clause are:

John Arthur Laurensen, QC

Ailsa Patricia Duffy

Monica Jean Mousen

Paul Robert Hobbs and any psychiatrist approved by the Committee of Inquiry

Health (Needles and Syringes) Regulations 1987

Notice of Fees and Costs

Pursuant to regulation 5 of the Health (Needles and Syringes) Regulations 1987, I, George Cockburn Salmond, Director-General of Health, hereby:

1. Fix the amount of the service fee to be paid to any pharmacist, medical practitioner, or authorised representative for the sale of the approved pack of 10 needles and syringes, pursuant to regulation 3 of the Health (Needles and Syringes) Regulations 1987, as follows:

(1) Where the purchaser does not return any used needle or used syringe at the time of purchase $5 (inclusive of Goods and Services Tax).

(2) Where the purchaser does return any used needle or used syringe at the time of purchase $2.50 (inclusive of Goods and Services Tax.).

2. Fix the cost of the approved pack of 10 needles and syringes (including the cost of packaging) sold, pursuant to regulation 3 of the Health (Needles and Syringes) Regulations 1987 at $6.75 (inclusive of Goods and Services Tax).

The above-mentioned fees and costs shall have effect from the 1st day of March 1991.
