Special Conditions

  1. It shall be an offence to hunt or kill game from any unmoored boat within the District during the first two days of the open season for game, being Saturday 5 May and Sunday 6 May 1990.

Nelson Acclimatisation District

  • Grey, shoveler and mallard duck: 5 May to 1 July 1990 incl.
  • Paradise shelduck: 5 May to 1 July 1990 incl.
  • Pukeko: 5 May to 1 July 1990 incl.
  • Black swan: 5 May to 1 July 1990 incl.
  • Canada goose: 5 May to 1 July 1990 incl.
  • California quail (Area A): 5 May to 26 August 1990 incl.
  • California quail (Area B): 2 June to 26 August 1990 incl.
  • Cock pheasant: 2 June to 4 June 1990 and 9 June to 10 June 1990 incl.

Definition of Areas

Area A: All that area in the Nelson Acclimatisation District excluding the Waimea and Wairoa Rivers up to the junction of the Lee River, and the Wai-iti River up to State Highway No.6 (Wai-iti Bridge), and excluding a 200 metre strip on both banks of these rivers within the said area.

Area B: The area contained in the Waimea, Wairoa and Wai-iti Rivers including a 200 metre strip on both banks, as specified in Area A.

  • Mallard duck: 15
  • Paradise shelduck: 8
  • Pukeko: 6

Definition of Areas

Area A: All that area in the Marlborough Acclimatisation District excluding the Wairau River upstream from the Wairau Bar Bridge and the area contained within a 200 metre strip on both banks of the said river.

Area B: All that area in the Marlborough Acclimatisation District being the Wairau River upstream from the Wairau Bar Bridge and the area contained within a 200 metre strip on both banks of the said river.

Area C: Sounds: That area of the Acclimatisation District, north of a line joining points Elaine Bay settlement, Tennyson Inlet settlement and Havelock township and north of the Havelock to Picton Road and north of the Picton to Fighting Bay Road.

Decoy limit: No limit.

Special Conditions

  1. No person shall use for the purpose of hunting or killing game, any fixed stand, pontoon, hide or maimai on the waters of Upper Lagoon to Morgans Creek and Chandlers Lagoon, situated approximately 10 kilometres southeast of Blenheim.

  2. It shall be an offence for any person to wilfully leave on the hunting ground, the bodies or parts of bodies of black swan or other game shot in the Marlborough Acclimatisation District.

  • Black swan (hunting permitted only over crops and pastures in the Wairewa and Ellesmere counties east of State Highway No. 1 greater than 400 metres distant from any lake, lagoon or river): 2 July to 26 August 1990 incl.
  • Canada goose (area C): 5 May to 16 Sept 1990 incl.
  • Canada goose (area D): 2 Feb to 31 March 1991 incl.
  • Canada goose (area E): 5 May to 25 Nov 1990 incl.
  • California quail: 5 May to 5 August 1990 incl.

Definition of Areas

Area A: High country: Kaikoura District and that part of the North Canterbury District north of the Conway River; the Awatere watershed and all that land lying to the south to the boundary of the Kaikoura District, the Acheron watershed; the Waiau River watershed upstream of the Power House on the Waiau River; the Wairau River watershed upstream of its junctions with Marchburn Stream and Bartletts Creek.
