Special Conditions

  1. (a) From the 5 May to the 24 June 1990 inclusive no person shall use or cause to be used for the hunting or killing of game on Lake Waikare, any drifting or temporarily moored floating stand or any stand, hide or maimai which is permanently fixed to the lake bed except within 180 metres of the outer margin of the lake, or the shoreline of Motu Nui Island (Grape Island).

    (b) From the 25 June to the 29 July 1990 inclusive temporary moored floating stands may be used within 180 metres of the outer margin of the lake, or the shoreline of Motu Nui Island (Grape Island) to hunt Canada geese.

  2. No person shall use or cause to be used for the hunting or killing of game on Lake Ngaroto any fixed stand, pontoon, hide or maimai except within 85 metres of the margin of the lake.

  3. No person shall use or cause to be used for the hunting or killing of game on Lake Rotokauri any fixed stand, pontoon, hide or maimai on any open water of the lake.

  4. It shall be an offence for any person to wilfully leave on the hunting ground any game bird(s) shot or parts of any game birds shot.

  5. It shall be an offence for any person to herd or drive black swan(s) for the purpose of hunting or killing them.

  6. It shall be an offence to shoot game from any unmoored boat on the Waikato River north of the boat ramp at the confluence of the Mangawara Stream and the Waikato River at Taupiri on any of the first three days or the second weekend of the open season.

Declaring an Open Season for Game in the Firth of Thames for the 1990 Game Season

An open season for game is declared in that area of the Firth of Thames hereinafter named the Firth of Thames Open Game Area and being that area that is enclosed between the boundary of the Auckland Acclimatisation District and a line connecting the points on that boundary by passing through Orare Point on the west side of the Firth and the southern headland of Fantaib Bay on the Coromandel Peninsula, subject to the conditions specified hereto and in the First Schedule.

Conditions

  1. Game may only be hunted or killed in the Firth of Thames Open Game Area in compliance with conditions specified for the Auckland Acclimatisation District 1990 open season for game.

  2. Any licence authorising the holder to hunt or kill game within the Auckland Acclimatisation District for the 1990 open season for game shall similarly authorise the holder to hunt or kill game in the Firth of Thames Open Game Area.

Definition of Areas

Area A1: All of Opotiki, Whakatane, Kawerau and Rotorua Districts, and those parts of the South Waikato and Western Bay of Plenty Districts that lie within the Central North Island Wildlife Conservancy (C.N.I.W.C.) Acclimatisation District, and all that area of Taupo District lying north of a line commencing in the Hauhungaroa Range, at Weraroa Trig and thence easterly down the centre of the Waikato Stream to Lake Taupo, and thence easterly along the lake shoreline to a point opposite the junction of State Highways No 1 and 5, thence to that junction and east along State Highway No 5 to the Waipunga River, thence south easterly down the middle of the river to the boundary of the C.N.I.W.C. Acclimatisation District.

Area A2: All that area of the Taupo District lying south of the line described in A1 above, and all those parts of the Hastings and Rangitikei Districts contained within the C.N.I.W.C. Acclimatisation District.

Area B1: All of the Gisborne District.

Area B2: All that area of the C.N.I.W.C. Acclimatisation District that lies within the Wairoa District.

Area C1: All that area of the C.N.I.W.C. Acclimatisation District that lies within the Ruapehu District, north of a line commencing at the confluence of the Whanganui River and Taurakaitapu Stream; thence generally southwesterly following the boundary of the C.N.I.W.C. Acclimatisation District to McDonald Trig, Mangaora Trig, Otuata Trig to the confluence of the Manganuioteo and Mangaturuturu Rivers, thence generally easterly along the middle of the Mangaturuturu River to the top of Mount Ruapehu, thence northerly along the Ruapehu District boundary back to the confluence of the Whanganui River and Taurakaitapu Stream.

Area C2: All that area of the C.N.I.W.C. Acclimatisation District that lies within the Ruapehu District and south of a line as described in C1 above.

Note: all above areas are shown on the map held by the Department of Conservation Conservancy Office Rotorua entitled "Central North Island Wildlife Conservancy Game Bird Hunting Areas".
