(2) A licence holder shall not, when taking or attempting to take or when in possession of, any sports fish, be in possession of or be in control of, any spear gun or any pointed missile (other than a bullet) which is propelled by means of any mechanical or explosive device.
(3) In this clause the term "explosive" has the same meaning as in the Explosives Act 1957.

Use of nets—Subject to clause 5 (1) of this Notice, a licence holder shall not use or cause to be used for taking sports fish a net of any description.

Daily limit bag—(1) A licence holder shall not on any one day take or have in possession more than four (4) sports fish of which no more than two (2) may be salmon.
(2) A licence holder shall not on any day take or have in possession more than two (2) sports fish from the following waters (including tributaries):
(a) Coastal rivers meeting the sea between and including the Awatere and Conway Rivers;
(b) Cobb River above the Cobb Reservoir;
(c) D’Urville River;
(d) Kaituna River (Havelock);
(e) Motupiko River
(f) Opouri River
(g) Owen River
(h) Pearse River
(i) Pelorus River tributaries and the mainstem above State Highway No. 6;
(j) Rahu River;
(k) Riwaka River;
(l) Sabine River;
(m) Travers River;
(n) Wairau River upstream of the Wash Bridge;
(o) Wairau River tributaries;
(p) Warwick River;
(q) Wooley River.
(3) A licence holder who on any one day, has already taken two (2) sports fish from the waters specified in subclause (2) of this clause, shall not, on that day, continue to fish in any of those waters.
(4) A licence holder who on any one day, has taken four (4) sports fish, shall not continue to fish on that day.
- Minimum size to be taken—(1) There shall be no minimum size for sports fish, except as provided for in subclause (2) of this clause.
(2) A licence holder shall not take or have in his or her possession any sports fish which does not exceed 25 cm in length from the Buller River, in the area from and including the outlet of Lake Rotoiti, which comprises of a radius of 100 m from the centre of the meeting lines with the Buller River, to the first bridge across the Buller River on State Highway No. 63.
- Revocation—The notices published in the supplement to the Gazette, No. 164 of Thursday, 24 September 1987, on pages 4511–4512 titled District Anglers (Marlborough Acclimatisation District) Notice 1987 and in the supplement to the Gazette No. 148 of Thursday 24 August 1989, on pages 3751–3752 title District Anglers (Nelson Acclimatisation District) Notice 1989, are hereby revoked.

District Anglers (North Canterbury Fish and Game Region) Notice 1990
Pursuant to section 26R (3) of the Conservation Act 1987 (as added by section 17 of the Conservation Law Reform Act 1990), the North Canterbury Fish and Game Council hereby gives the following District Anglers Notice.

Title and commencement—This notice may be cited as the District Anglers (North Canterbury Fish and Game Region) Notice 1990 and shall come into force on the 1st day of October 1990.

Interpretation—(1) Words and expressions in this notice which are defined in the Conservation Act 1987, or the Freshwater Fisheries Regulations 1983, shall have the meaning so defined.
(2) In this notice the term “high country waters” means Lakes Lilian, Coleridge, Selfe, Evelyn, Grange, Henrietta, Ida, Little Ida, Catherine (also known as Monck), Georgina, Spectacles, Red Lakes, Lyndon Tarn, Lyndon, Rubicon, Pearson, Grasmere, Sarah, Hawdon, Marymere, Vagabonds Inn Tarn, Blackwater, Letitia, Minchin, Sheppard, Taylor, Katrine, Sumner, Mason, Guyon, and Heron, and all waters flowing into those lakes; and includes all other lakes and tarns laying west and north of a line joining—
(a) The white posts at the Lake Coleridge powerhouse on the Rakaia River; and
(b) The white posts at Woodstock on the Waimakariri River; and
(c) The junction of the Hurunui River with the South Branch; and
(d) The junction of the Waiau and Hope Rivers.
- Open season—(1) Subject to subclause (2) and (3) of this clause and to clause 4 of this Notice, there shall be an open season for fishing for sports fish from the 1st day of October in any year to the 30th day of April in the following year (both days inclusive).
(2) There shall be an open season for fishing for sports fish from the 1st Saturday after Queen’s Birthday Weekend to the 31st day of August in the same year (both days inclusive) in the following waters:
(a) The Waiau River downstream from its junction with the Hope River:
(b) The Hurunui River downstream from its junction with the South Branch:
(c) The Ashley River downstream from the State Highway No. 1 bridge.
(d) The Waimakariri River downstream from the white posts at Woodstock:
(e) The Selwyn River downstream from where the South Springs Road meets the river at the upstream end of the Upper Selwyn Huts:
(f) Lake Forsyth; and the Waiarewa and Okuti Rivers downstream from the road bridge over each river on the Little River—Te Oka Bay road:
(g) Lakes Taylor, Sumner, Coleridge, Lyndon, and Selfe, except within 200 m of any stream flowing into those lakes:
(h) The Rakaia River downstream from the bridge on the main South Road.
(3) There shall be an open season for fishing for sports fish from the 1st day of October in any year to the 30th day of September in the following year (both days inclusive) in the Heathcote River and the Avon River except as provided in clause 4 (1) (c) of this notice.
(4) No licence holder shall fish for, take or attempt to take, any sports fish except during an open season.
