(g) Any wire or grip trace or cast of a greater length than 1.8 metres.

(h) On or in conjunction with any spoonbait, minnow, or other lure any single hook or other fixed multiple assembly of hooks any one hook of which has a greater distance than 13 mm between the point and the nearest part of the shank of the hook;

(i) In conjunction with any spoonbait or artificial minnow, any lead or weight affixed to the trace or line at a distance of less than 38 cm above the lure;

(j) No licence holder when fishing for sports fish shall use as a lure or bait any fish taken from any water other than that in which it is being used as a lure or bait;

(k) Any lure or bait other than artificial fly in the following waters:

(i) The Wairoa River and its tributaries above the Hunua Falls;
(ii) The Taurua River and its tributaries;
(iii) The Kauaeranga River and its tributaries;
(iv) The Komata Stream and its tributaries;
(v) The Maratoto Stream and its tributaries from its source to the ford on the old Whangamata track;
(vi) The Kakahu Stream (north-east of Okoroire) and its tributaries;
(vii) The Waipapa River and its tributaries upstream from the first waterfall situated approximately 0.5 km from Lake Waipapa;
(viii) The Mangatutu Stream and its tributaries from its source to the Lethbridge Road Bridge;
(ix) The Puniu River and its tributaries from its source to the Bayley Road Bridge;
(x) The Kaniwhaniwha Stream and its tributaries from its source on the Pirongia Mountain to its confluence with the Waipa River;
(xi) The Ngakoaohia Stream from its source on Pirongia Mountain to the bridge on Pirongia-Kawhia roadway;
(xii) The Awakino River and its tributaries from its source to the Mahoenui Bridge;
(xiii) The Little Waipa River from its source to its point of entry into Lake Karapiro;

(l) Any multiple hook in the following waters:

(i) The Wanganui River.
(ii) The Whakapapa River and its tributaries.

(m) Any unsportsmanlike device or method.

(n) Any lure or bait other than spoonbait, artificial minnow or artificial fly in the following waters:

(i) The Awakino River downstream from the Mahoenui Bridge.
(ii) The Wanganui River from its source to its confluence with the Whakapapa River.
(iii) The Whakapapa River and its tributaries.
  1. Prohibition on unauthorised fishing tackle, etc—No licence holder shall, when fishing for sports fish, use or be in possession of, or be in control of, or convey to the vicinity of any place where that licence holder is fishing or proposes to fish, any paravane, any stroke-hauling or foulhooking gear, or any spear.

  2. Use of nets—Subject to clause 5 (2) (a) of this Notice, no licence holder shall use or cause to be used for taking sports fish a net of any description:

    Provided that it shall be a defence for any licence holder charged with a breach of this clause if that licence holder proved that he or she was netting for indigenous fish in accordance with the provisions of any regulations or notices in force in that behalf.

  3. Prohibition on possession or control of spear gun—

(1) No licence holder shall, when taking or attempting to take or when in possession of, any sports fish, be in possession of or be in control of, any spear gun or any pointed missile (other than a bullet) device which is propelled by means of any mechanical or explosive device.

(2) Where any licence holder is charged with an offence under subclause (1) of this clause, it shall be a defence to the charge if the defendant proves that the spear gun or pointed missile in the defendant’s possession or under the defendant’s control was not used in the taking of the sports fish.

(3) In this clause the term “explosive” has the same meaning as in the Explosives Act 1957.

  1. Authorised lures and baits—No licence holder shall fish for sports fish with any bait or lure other than artificial or natural fly, insect, worm, crustacea, minnow, fish (excluding fish ova or any portion of a fish or any shellfish (mollusca)), except in the following waters:

    (i) Lake Kuwakatai;
    (ii) Lake Kereta;
    (iii) Lake Okaihau;
    (iv) Smales Quarry Lake;
    (v) Lake Pupuke;
    (vi) Lake Pukeiti;
    (vii) The Mangatawhiri River from the bridge on State Highway 2 to its confluence with the Waikato River;
    (viii) The Whangamarino River;
    (ix) Quarry Road Dam Ardmore;
    (x) Papakura City Water Supply Dam;
    (xi) The Hikutaia Cut;
    (xii) Lake Tomarata;
    (xiii) Lake Rotorua (Hamilton Lake);
    (xiv) Lake Hakanoa;
    (xv) Any other pond or lake contained within any freehold land title;
    where any bait (excluding fish ova or any portion of a fish or any shellfish (mollusca)), may be used.

  2. Daily limit bag—(1) Subject to subclause (3) of this clause no licence holder shall on any one day take or have in his possession more than 5 trout or salmon.

(2) Subject to subclause (3) of this clause no licence holder shall continue to use a rod and running line to take trout or salmon on any day on which he has already taken 5 trout or salmon.

(3) No licence holder shall take or have in his possession more than 8 trout or salmon taken from the following waters:

(i) The Wanganui River and its tributaries.
(ii) The Whakapapa River and its tributaries.

(4) Notwithstanding subclause (1) of this clause, no licence holder shall on any one day take or have in his possession more than a total of 2 trout taken from the Awakino River.

  1. Minimum size to be taken—(1) Subject to subclause (2) of this clause no licence holder shall take or have in his possession, any trout or salmon which does not exceed 30 cm in length.

(2) No licence holder shall take or have in his possession any trout or salmon which does not exceed 22 cm in length taken from—

(a) Lake Pupuke;
(b) Lake Moananui;
(c) Lake Tomarata;
(d) Lake Otootoa;
