Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations, and Retirements of Officers of the Royal New Zealand Air Force

Pursuant to section 35 of the Defence Act 1971, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

REGULAR AIR FORCE

General Duties Branch

Appointments

Squadron Leader M. W. Sinclair, A.F.C., to be temporary Wing Commander with effect from 3 September 1988.

Flying Officer T. M. D. Tomoana to be temporary Flight Lieutenant with effect from 9 January 1989.

Captain Richard Mark Hughes, Canadian Armed Forces, is appointed to the Regular Air Force on a fixed engagement of 5 years in the rank of Flight Lieutenant, with seniority from 13 January 1987 and effect from 9 January 1989.

The following Officer Cadets are appointed to commissions in the rank of Flying Officer, with seniority from 10 September 1987 and effect from 16 December 1988:

  • Robert John Anderson, B.Sc. (HONS).
  • Vaughn Cameron Davis, B.Sc.
  • Gregory Charles Tyrrell, B.Com.

The following Officer Cadets are appointed to commissions in the rank of Pilot Officer, with seniority from the date shown and effect from 16 December 1988:

  • Rhys Nicholson Akers, 7 September 1988.
  • Kevin James Beard, 8 December 1987.
  • William Francis Bland, 7 September 1958.
  • Angela Margaret Dickinson, 7 September 1988.
  • Kevin Daniel McEvoy, 7 June 1988.

Promotion

Paul Leslie Stockley, 7 September 1988.

Wing Commander R. M. Bulger to be Group Captain with seniority from 25 October 1988 and effect from 7 November 1988.

Adjustments of Seniority

The seniority of the following Flight Lieutenants is adjusted to 11 October 1987:

  • P. O. McLuskie, B.Sc.
  • G. B. I. Scott, B.Sc.

Extension of Commission

The commission of Squadron Leader D. G. Jones is extended until 1 August 1999.

Extensions of Commission and Age for Retirement

The commissions and age for retirement of the following are extended until the date shown:

  • Air Commodore G. C. Hubband, O.B.E., 12 February 1990.
  • Squadron Leader G. S. Higgins, M.B.E., 7 April 1991.
  • Squadron Leader H. J. Lawton, 31 August 1995.
  • Squadron Leader B. R. Anderson, 4 February 1991.

Transfers to Reserve

Squadron Leader Glendon Keith Edwards, B.Sc., is transferred to the Reserve of Air Force Officers until 17 January 1993, with effect from 18 January 1989.

Flight Lieutenant Denis Mervyn Laird is transferred to the Reserve of Air Force Officers until 22 January 1993, with effect from 23 January 1989.

Transfer to Retired List

Group Captain Donald Wiliam Pawson, O.B.E., A.F.C., is transferred to the Retired List ‘A’ with effect from 28 February 1989.

Retirements

The following Flight Lieutenants are retired with effect from the date shown:

  • Mark Robinson Scott, B.Sc., 10 December 1988.
  • David Post, B.E. (HONS), 19 January 1989.

Engineer Branch

Appointment

Flight Lieutenant M. G. Pobog-Jaworowski, B.E., to be temporary Squadron Leader with effect from 9 January 1989.

Promotion

Temporary Squadron Leader P. L. Guy to be Squadron Leader with seniority and effect from 13 April 1989.

Adjustments of Seniority

The seniority of the following Flying Officers is antedated to 10 June 1987:

  • P. D. Avey, B.E. (HONS).
  • T. M. Cunningham, B.E. (HONS).

Extension of Commission and Age for Retirement

The commission and age for retirement of Wing Commander R. L. Doorne, M.A., are extended until 2 September 1990.

Transfers to Reserve

Squadron Leader Michael Francis Neil is transferred to the Reserve of Air Force Officers until 5 February 1991, with effect from 6 February 1989.

Temporary Squadron Leader Bernard Francis Kay, N.Z.C.E., is transferred to the Reserve of Air Force Officers until 8 January 1991, with effect from 9 January 1989.

Flight Lieutenant Stephen Thomas Parker is transferred to the Reserve of Air Force Officers until 10 August 1991.
