Approved Woolmarking Preparation (Notice No. 4893; Ag. 1310-38)

Pursuant to sections 69 and 94 of the Animals Act 1967 and after consultation with the New Zealand Wool Board, I hereby give notice that the woolmarking preparation set out in the Schedule hereto (being a product of Ciba Geigy New Zealand Ltd.) is approved for sale and use in marking wool of sheep.

This approval takes effect on the day following the date of publication in the Gazette.

This notice revokes the approval contained in notice No. 4301 published 18 February 1988 (Gazette, 1988, page 560).

Notice to Set Apart and Define a Special Quarantine Ground at Takapuna (Notice No. 4891; Qual/0996/FBT)

Notice is hereby given that pursuant to section 11A (1) of the Animals Act 1967, land on S. Dorrington’s property, 73B Langana Avenue, Browns Bay, Auckland, being 1086 square metres, more or less, being Lot 1, Deposited Plan 99385 and being part Allotment 253, Parish of Takapuna, is hereby declared to be a special quarantine ground for the detention of imported animals.

The Fisheries (Chatham Islands Rock Lobster Closed Season) Notice (No. 4892)

Pursuant to section 85 of the Fisheries Act 1983, the Director-General of Agriculture and Fisheries, after consultation with the Director-General of Conservation, hereby gives the following notice.

Notice

  1. Title and commencement—This notice may be cited as the Fisheries (Chatham Islands Rock Lobster Closed Season) Notice and shall come into force on the 1st day of March 1989.

  2. Interpretation—In this notice, the term:

“Rock Lobster” means those fish of which the scientific names are Jasus edwardsii (commonly known as the spiny or red rock lobster) and Jasus verreauxi (commonly known as the packhorse or green rock lobster).

“Chatham Islands rock lobster fishery” means the rock lobster fishery bounded by all that area of New Zealand fisheries waters enclosed by a line commencing at the point of 40° 25’S and 178° W on the outer limits of the exclusive economic zone; then proceeding along the outer limits of the zone to the point 51° 50’S and 174° 25’E; then proceeding in a straight line to the point 50° 50’S and 174° 25’E; then proceeding in a straight line to the point 50° 25’S and 173° 50’E; then proceeding along the outer limits of the zone to the point of commencement.

  1. Closed season for rock lobster determined—There is hereby determined to be a closed season for rock lobster in the Chatham Islands rock lobster fishery commencing on the 1st day of March 1989 and expiring with the 30th day of April 1989, both days inclusive.

Appointment of Member to the Commerce Commission

Pursuant to section 11 of the Commerce Act 1986, the Minister of Commerce has appointed

Wayne Eric Scanlan of Auckland

to be an associate member of the Commerce Commission for matters relating to the merger and takeover proposal by which the Petroleum Corporation of New Zealand Limited would acquire New Zealand Synthetic Fuels Corporation Limited and the Crown’s interests in the Maui contracts and the Synfuel contracts and related assets for a period of 6 months commencing on the 13th day of February 1989.
