Legal Services Bill
This Bill makes provision for the regulation of publicly-funded legal services in New Zealand by making legal assistance and legal services more readily available to persons and groups of persons of insufficient means.
It consolidates and amends the Offenders Legal Aid Act 1954 and the Legal Aid Act 1969.
It extends civil legal aid to environmental proceedings.
It provides for civil legal aid to be granted to persons detained in certain institutions.
It provides for the establishment and funding of a nationwide network of community law centres.
It provides for the payment of interest on solicitor’s trust accounts, and for that interest to be used for law-related purposes.

to be a member of the Fishing Industry Board for a term of 3 years from 1 October 1989.

Pursuant to regulation 4(4) of the Telecommunications (International Services) Regulations 1989, I, James Richard Alan Stevenson, General Manager, Communications, Ministry of Commerce, acting under delegated authority, hereby give the following notice.

Short title and commencement—This notice may be cited as the Telecommunications (International Services) Regulations (Telecom Networks and International Limited) Notice 1989.

Telecom Networks and International Limited a Registered Operator—It is hereby declared that Telecom Networks and International Limited was registered as a registered operator for the purposes of the Telecommunications (International Services) Regulations 1989 on 14 August 1989.

Pursuant to section 8A of the Harbours Act 1950, the Administrator of the Government, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.
Order
- Title and commencement—(a) This order may be cited as the Lake Waihola Order 1989.
(b) This order shall come into force 28 days after its publication in the Gazette.
- Interpretation—In this order—
“The Act” means the Harbours Act 1950;
