Summary of Bills Introduced

Postal Services Amendment Bill

This Bill amends section 3 of the principal Act in relation to exemptions from current restrictions on carriage of letters for hire or reward other than by New Zealand Post. The exemption for letters of 500 grams or less is amended to 200 grams or less if a charge of:

$1.25 is made during the 12 months ending 30 November 1990; and
$1.00 is made during the next 12 months; and
80 cents is made thereafter.

The Bill also provides for detailed information to be supplied in the annual financial report of NZ Post.
