local authority within the district of which any such lines or works may be situated.

  1. The systems of supply shall be as described in paragraphs (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), (f), (g), (h) and (i) of regulation 13 of the Electrical Supply Regulations 1934. The system of supply authorised under paragraph (j) shall be a single conductor earth-return system, and the use thereof shall be subject to such terms and conditions as are from time to time laid down by the Assistant Secretary (Industries and Markets), Ministry of Energy at Wellington.

  2. The Electrical Supply Authority shall, 6 months prior to the expiry of the term of this licence provided in clause 6 herein, make written application to the Minister of Energy for the granting of a new licence.

Area of Supply

All that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded by a line commencing on the summit of the Main Divide at McClure Peak in Block IV, Torlesse S.D. and proceeding generally southerly along the summit of the Two Thumb Range to the source of Forest Creek in Block IX, Fox S.D.; thence easterly and northerly along the middle of said creek; thence to a point in line with the northern boundary of part Run 77; thence south-easterly to and along that boundary and along the western and northern boundaries of Run 28, the generally northern boundary of part Run 14 (Clayton), the western and northern boundaries of part Run 2 (Dry Creek), the northern and eastern boundaries of part Run 276 (Lochaber), the north-eastern and eastern boundaries of part Run 276 (Mount Peel) and the last-mentioned boundary produced to the northern boundary of Rural Section 4019; thence north-easterly along the northern boundaries of said Rural Section 4019, Rural Section 4218, again Rural Section 4019, Rural Section 4217 and again Rural Section 4019 to the western boundary of part Rural Section 3796; thence along the western and northern boundaries of the said part Rural Section 3796 and the last-mentioned boundary produced to the middle of the Rangitata River; thence generally south-easterly along the middle of the said river, passing to the north of Rangitata Island, to the high-water mark of the sea coast; thence generally south-westerly along the high-water mark of the sea coast to the middle of the Waitaki River; thence north-westerly along the middle of the said river to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Rural Section 37557; thence north-easterly to and along that boundary to and along the north-eastern boundary of said Rural Section 37557 and the north-western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 44900 to the south-eastern side of Clarkesfield Road; thence westerly along said roadside to a point on the north-western side of a public road (also being the south-eastern boundary of Section 1, Block VI, Elephant Hill S.D.); thence north-easterly to and along that roadside to the south-western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 44900; thence along the south-western boundary of said Lot 1 and the south-western and north-western boundaries part Rural Section 28739 to the south-western side of Elephant Hill Road; thence north-westerly along said roadside and the generally southern boundary of Lot 22, D.P. 1586 to the south-eastern boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 3451; thence along the south-eastern, crossing Clarkesfield Back Road, south-western and north-western boundaries of said Lot 3 and the southern, south-western and north-western boundaries of Run 321 (Hillbrook) to the northernmost corner of said Run 321; thence south-easterly along a right line to the north-western corner of Lot 8, D.P. 1584; thence along the north-eastern boundary of said Lot 8 to the western boundary of Block XIV, Waihao S.D.; thence northerly along that boundary and along the western boundary of Block X aforesaid and the western and northern boundaries of Block VI aforesaid to the north-western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 27406; thence north-easterly along that boundary and along the south-western boundary of Lot 5, D.P. 27281, the south-western and north-western boundaries of Lot 3, D.P. 27281, across a public road, and the northern boundary of Lot 4, D.P. 27281 and that boundary produced to the middle of the North Branch of the Waihao River; thence generally northerly along the middle of said north branch to its source and along a right line to Mount Nimrod in Block II, Nimrod S.D.; thence south-westerly along another right line to Trig. Station F, Block II aforesaid on the summit of the Hunters Hills; thence north-westerly generally along the summit of said Hills, passing through Trig. Station K (Te Huruhuru), to a point due east of the north-western corner of Lot 1, D.P. 22750 in Block XVI, Mackenzie S.D.; thence due west along a right line to said corner and that right line produced still westerly to the middle of the Hakataramea River; thence generally north-westerly along said river to and along Dagley Stream and the south-western boundary of Run 74A (Mount Dalgety) to Hakataramea Pass in Block XI, Mackenzie S.D.; thence south-westerly along a right line, between said Pass and a point in the middle of Lake Benmore opposite the north-western corner of Run 67; thence south-westerly along that right line to the north-western corner of Block V, Hewlings S.D., to a point in line with Trig. Station T in Block XVI, Gladstone S.D. measured at right angles to the aforesaid right line; thence south-easterly along a right line, passing through Trig. Station T, to a point distant 1609 metres; thence south-westerly along another right line, measured at right angles to the aforesaid right line, to a point distant 1609 metres; thence north-westerly along another right line, measured at right angles to the aforesaid right line, to the said right line between Hakataramea Pass and the point in the middle of Lake Benmore opposite the north-western corner of Run 67; thence south-westerly along that right line to that point in the middle of Lake Benmore; thence north-westerly along the middle of said Lake and the Ohau River to and along the generally eastern side of Lake Ohau to the middle of the Hopkins River; thence north-westerly along the middle of said River to a point in line with Trig. Station W in Block XVI, Hopkins S.D.; thence due east to said Trig. Station W and again due east from said Trig. Station to a point distant 3218 metres; thence due north to a point distant 6436 metres; thence due west to the middle of the Hopkins River; thence generally northerly along the middle of said River to its source and along a right line to Mount Hopkins on the summit of the Main Divide; thence north-easterly along the summit of the Main Divide to McClure Peak the point of commencement.

Excluding therein the area of supply of the Timaru Borough Council as described in the Schedule to the Councils Electricity Supply Licence in the New Zealand Gazette of 10 April 1986, No. 51, page 1503.

The area of supply being more particularly shown outlined in black on plan NZE 2163 (Sheets 1 to 20), deposited in the office of the Ministry of Energy at Wellington.

Waitemata Electric Power Board Electricity Supply Licence 1988

I, David John Butcher, Minister of Energy, acting pursuant to section 20 of the Electricity Act 1968 hereby licence Waitemata Electric Power Board (hereinafter called the Electrical Supply Authority) to supply electricity, and to lay, construct, put up, place and use all electric lines and works which may from time to time be required for the distribution and supply of electricity within the area specified in the Schedule hereto.

This licence is issued subject to the following conditions:

  1. This licence may be cited as the Waitemata Electric Power Board Electricity Supply Licence 1988.
