Notice

(g) One member appointed by the Taranaki Branch of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers.

(h) The Director-General of Education or his nominee.

(i) One member who shall be the principal of the Taranaki Polytechnic.

(j) One member who shall represent the staff of the Taranaki Polytechnic, and who shall be elected by the full-time employees of the council, and who shall be employed by the council.

(k) One member to represent health services interests who shall be elected by various health services representatives on the Polytechnic Nursing Advisory Committee.

(l) One member who shall represent Maori people in Taranaki and who shall be appointed by the Taranaki Maori Trust Board.

(m) One member who shall represent the students of the Taranaki Polytechnic and who shall be appointed to a term of office of 1 year by the executive committee of the Polytechnic Students’ Association.

(n) Not more than three members may be co-opted by the council itself, if and when it thinks fit.

  1. (1) Subject to the provisions of this clause and the provisions of paragraph (k) of clause 3 of this notice, the members of the council of the Taranaki Polytechnic shall hold office for a term of 3 years, but may, from time to time, be reappointed or re-elected.

(2) Except in the case of a casual vacancy, every member shall hold office until the 31st day of May in the third year after the year of his appointment or election, and if, on the 31st day of May, the appointment or election of his successor has not been notified to the council he shall continue to hold office until the date on which that appointment or election is notified.

(3) If any member dies, or resigns his office by writing under his hand addressed to the council or the chairman or the secretary thereof, or is absent without leave from the meetings of the council for 3 consecutive months, or while holding office becomes for any reason ineligible to remain a member, the casual vacancy so created shall be filled, as soon as practicable thereafter, by the appointment or election of a member in the manner in which the vacating member was appointed or elected, and the member appointed or elected to fill the vacancy shall hold office for the residue of the term of office of the member whom he replaces.

(4) The powers of the council shall not be affected by any vacancy in the membership thereof.

  1. The Taranaki Polytechnic Notice 1976 is hereby revoked.

Morrinsville College Board of Governors Notice 1988

Pursuant to section 51 of the Education Act 1964, the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice.

  1. (a) This notice may be cited as the Morrinsville College Board of Governors Notice 1988.

(b) This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.

  1. The Board of Governors of Morrinsville College shall be constituted as follows:

(a) One member appointed by the Hamilton Education Board;

(b) Eight members elected by the parents of the pupils attending the school;

(c) One member elected by the teachers of the school; but the member so elected may not be appointed as chairman or deputy chairman of the board;

(d) One member co-opted by the Board of Governors itself, if and when it thinks fit.

  1. The terms of office of all existing members of the Morrinsville College Board shall cease on the 31st day of July 1988 and the term of the Board, as constituted by clause 2 of this notice, shall commence on the 1st day of August 1988.

  2. The Morrinsville College Board of Governors Notice 1973 is hereby revoked.

Civil Defence Act 1983

Re-Appointment of Disaster Recovery Co-Ordinator

Pursuant to section 69 (2) of the Civil Defence Act 1983, I, Michael Bassett, Minister of Civil Defence, hereby reappoint

John Kinloch McKenzie as disaster recovery co-ordinator

for the East Cape Region for a term of 28 days effective from Tuesday, 3 May 1988.

The disaster recovery co-ordinator shall exercise the functions, duties and powers contained in section 72 of the Civil Defence Act 1983.
