4 February to 2 April 1989 incl.
California quail 7 May to 28 August 1988 incl.

Pukeko (area B) 7 May to 31 July 1988 incl.

Definition of Areas

Area A: All that area of the Southern Lakes Acclimatisation District, outside the Westland Land District, lying east of the Southern Alps main divide.

Area B: That area of the District within the Westland Land District west of the Southern Alps main divide.

Daily Bag Limits

  • Grey duck, 10
  • Shoveler duck, 3
  • Mallard duck, 10
  • Paradise shelduck (area A), 4
  • Paradise shelduck (area B), 10
  • Pukeko (area B), 3
  • Canada goose, no limit
  • California quail, 10
  • Chukor, 5

Grey, shoveler and mallard duck; and paradise shelduck, aggregated limits, 15 in all

Shooting Hours:

Area A and C: 7.00 a.m. to 6.45 p.m. during the period 7 May to 31 May 1988 incl. and 7.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. during the period 1 June to 28 August 1988 incl. except that during the period 11 July 1988 to 2 April 1989 incl. Canada goose may be hunted or killed 24 hours per day during the specified open season.

Area B: 6.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Decoy limit: No limit.

West Coast Acclimatisation District

Definition of Areas

Area A: North of the Buller River.

Area B: Upper Ahaura River catchment upstream of Hamers Flat, including the Haupiri River catchment.

Area C: The remainder of the District including area D.

Area D: That part of the District South of the Grey River.
