Standards Act 1965

The Standards Act 1965—Draft New Zealand Standard Specification Available for Comment

Pursuant to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft New Zealand standard specification is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification
DZ 5454 Requirements for lightweight automotive CNG cylinders ... $11.00 (incl. GST)

This draft code contains minimum safety requirements for the materials, design, construction, testing and quality control of seamless CNG gas cylinders of water capacity less than 250 L acceptable for use in motor vehicles operating in New Zealand.

The code has been written to cover the particular requirements for gas cylinders used in CNG service, permanently installed in a motor vehicle. Such cylinders can be allowed to be lightweight (yet durable), without the ruggedness required of the industrial type of transportable gas cylinders which must be able to withstand rough handling during all forms of transportation. The code is primarily for steel cylinders, but this does not mean that any other materials cannot be used in New Zealand. Special requirements for fibre reinforced steel liners are given in Appendix D. It is intended that this new code will state the requirements of steel cylinders of lightweight design for acceptability in New Zealand.

All persons who may be affected by this publication and who desire to comment thereon, may obtain copies at the price shown, from the Standards Association of New Zealand, Wellington Trade Centre, 181–187 Victoria Street (or Private Bag), Wellington.

Note—Payment must accompany all requests for drafts.

The closing date for the receipt of comment is 4 March 1988.

Dated at Wellington this 11th day of January 1988.

Director, Standards Association of New Zealand.

Pursuant to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft New Zealand standard specification is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification
DZ 5832 Driving controls for people with disabilities. Part 1: Hand controls ... $11.00 (incl. GST)

This draft Standard applies to mechanical type, manually-operated driving control systems (other than those provided by the vehicle manufacturer) for use by physically disabled drivers to enable them to operate passenger vehicles. Specifically excluded from this Standard are electro-mechanical-type controls and controls that do not permit the conventional use of the standard automotive controls by drivers without disability.

Driving controls systems include a variety of devices to enable physically disabled people to drive vehicles. Devices covered by this Standard are those specifically needed to operate a vehicle safely.

All persons who may be affected by this publication and who desire to comment thereon, may obtain copies at the price shown, from the Standards Association of New Zealand, Wellington Trade Centre, 181–187 Victoria Street (or Private Bag), Wellington.
