Specification Declared Suitable

Pursuant to the provisions of regulation 18 (3) of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976, the following specification is declared suitable for the purposes of those regulations.

AS 3172—1986
Approval and Test Specification—Electric cooking appliances for household use. Declared suitable subject to the following conditions:

1. Clause 8.1. Delete.
2. Clause 8.2. Delete.
3. Clause 8.3. Delete.
4. Clause 8.9. Delete.
5. Clause 8.11. The use of Edison screw lampholders are also subject to the requirements of regulation 97 (2) of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.
6. Clause 14.2. Delete.
7. Clause 14.3 (a) Delete the word “three” and substitute the word “two”.

Compliance with a declared standard specification shall not preclude the need to comply with the requirements of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.

Gas Industry Regulations 1984

CNG Operator Training—Approved Training Course

Pursuant to section 61 of the Gas Act 1982 and regulation 37 of the Gas Industry Regulations 1984, notice is hereby given that the following is an approved CNG Operator Training Programme:

Ministry of Energy CNG Operator Training Programme, 1987, comprising a video produced by Marmalade Video, training notes (dated 11 July 1988), and a declaration by the trainee and station owner that the trainee has carried out the training programme.

CNG Operator Training—Requirement for Trained Operators

Pursuant to section 61 of the Gas Act 1982 and regulation 37 of the Gas Industry Regulations 1984, notice is hereby given that, from 22 August 1988, the operation of CNG dispensing facilities is approved subject to the following safety requirements:

1. All persons who are employed at a CNG refuelling station and who may dispense CNG as a part of their duties shall complete an approved CNG operator training programme within 40 working hours of commencing duties.

2. Further to clause 1, whenever CNG is dispensed at a CNG refuelling station under fast-fill conditions, there shall be at least one person on the refuelling station site who has completed an approved CNG operator training programme. The definition of fast fill is a filling system where “the filling period is less than half an hour”.

3. A register shall be maintained by each refuelling station manager of all staff who have completed an approved training programme, recording name, date of employment, date on which the training programme was completed, and the signatures of the staff member and station manager. The register shall be kept at the refuelling station and made available for inspection at any reasonable time by the Chief Inspecting Engineer or any person authorised by him.

Gas Industry Regulations 1984

Approval for CNG Metering Dispensers

Pursuant to regulations 36 and 37 of the Gas Industry Regulations 1984, I, David James Green, Chief Inspecting Engineer, hereby approve the CNG metering devices listed in Schedule I hereunder for the measurement of compressed natural gas, subject to the conditions set out in Schedule II hereunder.

Conditions of Approval

The CNG metering dispensers listed in Schedule I are approved subject to the following conditions:

1. That they are manufactured in accordance with the New Zealand Standard NZS 5245, Part 3, Division 3.3, 1984.

2. That the components used are in accordance with the Technical Description produced by the Chief Inspecting Engineer.

3. That from and including 1 November 1988, they shall comply with the requirement of NZS 5425, Part 1, Amendment No. 1, 1986.
