The Fisheries (Squid Jig Fishery) Unallocated Quota Closed Season) Notice 1987 (Ag. 9/2; No. 4077)

Pursuant to section 85 of the Fisheries Act 1983, the Director (Operations), MAFFish, acting pursuant to a delegation from the Director-General of Agriculture and Fisheries (dated in Wellington on the 24th day of April 1987) hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. Title and commencement—This notice may be cited as the Fisheries (Squid Jig Fishery Unallocated Quota Closed Season) Notice 1987, and shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

  2. Interpretation—In this notice, the terms used shall have the same meanings as defined in the Fisheries (1986–87 Commercial Quotas) Regulations 1986: S.R. 1986/256.

  3. Closed season for squid taken by jigging under the unallocated quota in all New Zealand Fisheries waters except Southern Islands Area determined—There is hereby determined to be a closed season for squid taken by jigging under the unallocated quota in all New Zealand Fisheries waters except Southern Islands Area commencing on the 11th day of June 1987 and expiring with the 30th day of September 1987.

4. Revocation—The notice published in the Gazette, No. 81, of Thursday, 4 June 1987 on page 2400, titled The Fisheries (Squid Jig Fishery Closed Season) Notice 1987: Notice No. 4071, is hereby revoked.

Notice of Prohibition—Cables for Pontoon Type Mining Equipment

ACTING under delegated authority and pursuant to regulation 8 of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976, I hereby give notice that in my opinion neutral screened cables used as a trailing cable to supply pontoon type mining equipment may constitute an electrical hazard and is therefore PROHIBITED.

  1. The potential electrical hazard arises from the unsuitability of the above-named cabling to withstand the particularly onerous environmental and operational conditions encountered in dredging operations.

  2. All persons who have pontoon type mining equipment connected to a source of electrical supply in the manner described must arrange with their Electrical Supply Authority or an electrician to have the neutral-screened cable replaced with an acceptable type of trailing cable.

Notes:

(i) Cables type 209, 240 and 260 complying with Australian Standards AS 1802–1976, and AS 1802–1985 and Cables type 440 and 409 complying with Australian Standard AS 2802–1985 are considered suitable.

(ii) Cable type 450 complying with Australian Standard AS 2802–1985 is considered suitable provided earth leakage circuit protection is installed.

(iii) Cables type 241 and 275 complying with Australian Standard AS 1802–1985 and cable type 441 complying with Australian Standard AS 2802–1985 are considered suitable provided that the electrical supply system incorporates a 5 ampere earth fault limiting impedance and 500 milliamperes earth leakage protection.
