(b) use with a natural minnow more than one lure or bait or any single or multiple hook with a gap larger than 9 mm;

(c) use any lure or bait other than artificial fly in the Tengawai River or its tributaries, in the Ohape River or its tributaries, in Lake McGregor, in the Hakataramea River or its tributaries, in the Maerewhenua River or its tributaries, in Deep Stream (a tributary of the Waitaki River), or in any small high-country tarn;

(d) use any lure or bait other than artificial fly, artificial minnow, or spoon in Lake Middleton or its tributaries, or in the Ahuriri River or its tributaries, or in the Otematata River or its tributaries, or in the Kakanui River upstream from Five Forks Bridge, or in the Waihao River upstream from Five Forks Bridge, or in Lake Alexandrina.

(3) During the period commencing on the 1st day of January and ending with the 30th day of April in the same year (both days inclusive), in the Opihi River downstream from a designated line between Milford Reserve and Smith’s property (both ends of the line so designated being more particularly marked by poles on the river banks) no licence holder in fishing for acclimatised fish shall—

(a) use any lure or bait that does not fall in one of the following categories, that is, artificial fly, natural bait, or artificial minnow (that artificial minnow being a spinner, wobbler, funnie spoon, or other such type made solely of metal which in effect spins and wobbles when fished);

(b) use with any lure, not being natural bait, more than one hook-unit (single or multiple) or any hook with a gap greater than 13 mm or any hook which is rigidly attached to any lure or bait;

(c) use more than one lure or bait, except when using artificial fly;

(d) use any trace or cast of a greater length than 1 m, except when fishing with artificial fly or natural bait;

(e) use any lure or bait the total weight of which exceeds 28 grams;

(f) fish by any method other than casting from and retrieving on a reel except when using artificial fly or natural bait.

  1. Daily limit bag—(1) No licence holder shall on any 1 day take or have in his possession more than 14 trout or salmon.

(2) Notwithstanding subclause (1) of this clause no licence holder shall on any 1 day take or have in his possession more than—

(a) 4 salmon from any waters within the South Canterbury Acclimatisation District, except Lake Alexandrina, and Lake McGregor;

(b) 10 trout from any waters within the South Canterbury Acclimatisation District, except Lake Alexandrina and Lake McGregor;

(c) 6 trout or salmon taken from Lake Alexandrina and Lake McGregor of which not more than 4 may be salmon;

(d) 10 acclimatised fish from any waters in the Waitaki Valley Acclimatisation District of which not more than 4 may be quinnat salmon taken from the Waitaki River and not more than 5 may be trout taken from Deep Stream, the Otematata River, or the Maerewhenua River.

(3) No licence holder shall continue to use a rod and running line to take trout or salmon on any day on which he has already taken a limit bag.

(4) It shall be permissible to make up the difference between a lesser limit bag prescribed in one place and a higher limit bag prescribed in another place.

  1. Minimum size to be taken—(1) No licence holder shall take or have in his possession any acclimatised fish which does not exceed:

(a) 35 cm in length if taken from Lake Alexandrina or Lake McGregor;

(b) 25 cm in length if taken from any other waters.

(2) Every licence holder taking a trout or salmon which does not exceed the specified length shall immediately return it with as little injury as possible into the water from which it was taken.

  1. Revocation—The notice published in the supplement to Gazette No. 139 of Thursday, 8 September 1986, on pages 3780–3782, titled District Anglers (South Canterbury and Waitaki Valley Acclimatisation Districts) Notice 1986, is hereby revoked.

Declaring State Highway to be a Limited Access Road—State Highway No. 1

It is notified that the National Roads Board, by resolution dated 18 March 1987 and pursuant to section 153 of the Public Works Act 1981, hereby declares that part of State Highway No. 1, Picton to Tuamarina section for half its width on the eastern side across the frontages of Lots 1 and 2, D.P. 5622 (certificates of title 3D/769 and 770), as more particularly shown on sheet 1 of plan 54/32/7 and accompanying Schedule held in the office of the Resident Engineer, Ministry of Works and Development, Nelson and there available for public inspection, to be a limited access road.

Declaring State Highway to be a Limited Access Road—State Highway No. 60

It is notified that the National Roads Board, by resolution dated 18 March 1987 and pursuant to section 153 of the Public Works Act 1981, hereby declares that part of State Highway No. 60, Motueka to Dehra Doon Road section for half its width on the western side across the frontage of part Section 29, Motueka District (certificate of title 35/143), as more particularly shown on sheet 1 of plan 54/58/15 and accompanying Schedule held in the office of the Resident Engineer, Ministry of Works and Development, Nelson and there available for public inspection, to be a limited access road.

Declaring State Highway to be a Limited Access Road—State Highway No. 50

It is notified that the National Roads Board, by resolution dated 18 March 1987 and pursuant to section 153 of the Public Works Act 1981, hereby declares that part of State Highway No. 50, Pakowhai Road to Ngaruroro River section for half its width on the southern side for the extent of the frontages of Lot 1 D.P. 15678 (certificate of title J2/337), and part Lot 1, D.P. 2721 (certificate of title J2/338), as more particularly shown on sheet 1 of plan 30/90/3 and accompanying Schedule held in the office of the Resident Engineer, Ministry of Works and Development, Napier and there available for public inspection, to be a limited access road.

It is notified that the National Roads Board, by resolution dated 18 March 1987 and pursuant to section 153 of the Public Works Act 1981, hereby declares that part of State Highway No. 60, Takaka to Puramohoi section for all the eastern half of the road, including widening, from the southern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 10617 to the northern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 10769 and across the frontages of Lot 1, D.P. 10617; Lot 2, D.P. 10617; Lot 1, D.P. 7293; Lot 3, D.P. 10570; part 12 of Section 13; Lots 1 and 2, D.P. 10769 all in certificates of title 6B/701 and 702; 3A/6; 5D/906; 6C/1376; 6B/1159 and 1160, as more particularly shown on sheet 1 of plan 54/62/2 and accompanying Schedule held in the office of the Resident Engineer, Ministry of Works and Development, Nelson and there available for public inspection, to be a limited access road.
