Definition of Areas

Area A: Eastern and Southern districts: All that area east of the Tararua and Ruahine Ranges main divide and south of the Waikane River.

Area B: Western district: All that area west of the Tararua and Ruahine Ranges main divide and north of the Waikane River.

Area C: Rangitikei: That area north of Tangiwai Road, Bailey Road, Wilson Road and Mingaroa Road to Halcombe and north of the railway line from Halcombe east to Manawatu Gorge.

Area D: Wairarapa: The Counties of Masterton, Wairarapa South and Featherston.

Area E: Featherston: Featherston County.

Area F: Coastal Manawatu: That area west of State Highways 1 and 5 between the Turakina and Waikane Rivers including the Manawatu River (between main stopbanks) downstream from Shannon and including the Moutoa Floodway.

Area B: Sounds: that area of the District, north of a line joining points Elaine Bay settlement, Tennyson Inlet settlement and Havelock township and north of the Havelock-Picton Road and north of the Picton-Fighting Bay Road.

Area C: Low country: That area of the District excluding area A and area B.
