Pursuant to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft New Zealand standard specifications are being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification

DZ 5831 Specification for walking aids for the disabled.

This draft addresses the performance aspect of 3 types of walking aid and is presented in 3 parts:

  • Part 1 Specification for walking sticks. $11.00 (incl. GST).
  • Part 2 Specification for elbow crutches. $11.00 (incl. GST).
  • Part 3 Specification for axilla crutches. $11.00 (incl. GST).

Draft New Zealand Standard Specification Available for Comment

Pursuant to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft New Zealand standard specification is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification

DZ 4210 Code of practice for masonry construction: materials and workmanship. $14.30 (incl. GST).

This draft Standard sets out requirements for the materials and workmanship to be used in the erection of masonry buildings and is cited as a means of compliance with the relevant requirements of NZS 1900. It is the proposed revision of NZS 4210P:1981.

Significant changes relate to:

(a) Selection of grouting methods
(b) Veneer construction

Comments are particularly sought on:

(a) The technical requirements for wall ties
(b) The degree of regulatory use of seismic control joints required in residential structures.
(c) Whether wall tie provisions should be transferred to a separate Standard.

Draft New Zealand Standard Specification Available for Comment

Pursuant to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft New Zealand standard specification is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification

DZ 6112 The repair of electrical apparatus in hazardous areas. $19.14 (incl. GST)

This draft code of practice gives guidance, principally of a technical nature, on the repair and overhaul of apparatus designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (other than mining applications or explosive processing and manufacture). It does not cover maintenance, other than when repair and overhaul cannot be disassociated from maintenance. Recommendations regarding routine maintenance and the selection and installation of electrical apparatus for use in potentially explosive atmospheres may be found in BS 5345.

Sections 1 to 4 of the code cover those aspects of repair and overhaul which are common to all explosion-protected apparatus and subsequent sections provide guidance relevant to specific types of protection.
