Notice is hereby given by direction of the Minister of Agriculture that pursuant to section 5 and 6 of the Animal Remedies Act 1967, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint
Kenneth Stewart Thompson, veterinarian of Dargaville (on the nomination of the Veterinary Services Council)
as a member of the Animal Remedies Board for the residue of the term of office for R. H. Duckworth, resigned, which is due to expire on 26 April 1989.

Appointment of Member to the Pesticides Board (No. 4256; Ag. 1/53/2/1)
Notice is hereby given by direction of the Minister of Agriculture that pursuant to sections 12 and 14 of the Pesticides Act 1979, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint
John Edward Reeve, scientific officer of Wellington (on the nomination of the Minister of Health)
as a member of the Pesticides Board for the residue of the term of office for Dr J. C. J. Stoke, resigned, which expires on 17 August 1988.

Plants Act 1970
Notice of Prohibition of the Importation of Alstroemeria (Notice No. 4250)
Pursuant to section 6 of the Plants Act 1970, I hereby restrict the introduction into New Zealand of all Alstroemeria plants growing under sterile conditions in flasks or similar containers from all countries unless I am satisfied the importation will not introduce virus diseases not known to be present in New Zealand. All imports of the above plants shall be subject to prior approval by permit to import issued by the officer-in-charge of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Plant Protection Centre at Lynfield, Auckland.
This notice shall take effect on the day following its publication in the Gazette.

Emergency Restrictions on Importation of Fresh Fruit (Notice No. 4251)
Pursuant to section 6 of the Plants Act 1970, I hereby prohibit the importation of fresh fruit of the family Cucurbitaceae from Australia unless the fruit is accompanied by an international health certificate endorsed to the effect that the fruit has been inspected and found free from infestation by fruit fly larvae (family tephritidae) and has been fumigated in accordance with the Schedule affixed hereto.
Schedule
Fumigation requirements of fresh fruit of the Cucurbitaceae family imported into New Zealand from Australia.
Pressure: Atmospheric.
Fumigant: Ethylene Dibromide.
Rate: 22 grams per cubic metre.
Time period: 2 hours minimum.
Flesh temperature of fruit: 20°C or above.
