Standards Act 1965

The Standards Act 1965—Draft New Zealand Standard Specification Available for Comment

Pursuant to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft New Zealand standard specification is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification
DZ 9202 Standing orders for local authorities: $11.00 (incl. GST)

This draft standard is a revision of NZS 9202:1974 Standing orders for municipalities and counties, takes into account changed procedures which will apply when the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 comes into effect on 1 March 1988, and incorporates other changes to the Model Standing Orders to bring them into line with other legislation and to incorporate changes recommended by local authorities themselves.

In addition, an attempt has been made to make the language of the revision less formal, more precise and non-sexist, and to present the standing orders in a more accessible and “user-friendly” format. It is intended that the revised Model Standing Orders be suitable for use by any of those local authorities coming within the provisions of the above Act. NZS 9202 as revised may also be produced in several editions to provide for different combinations of “Mayors and Council/Boards”, “Chairmen and Boards”, etc.

This revision is to be published in February 1988 to meet the deadline of 1 March 1988 when the above Act comes into effect.

All persons who may be affected by this publication and who desire to comment thereon, may obtain copies at the price shown, from the Standards Association of New Zealand, Wellington Trade Centre, 181–187 Victoria Street (or Private Bag), Wellington.

NOTE—Payment must accompany all requests for drafts.

The closing date for the receipt of comment is 18 December 1987.

Dated at Wellington this 2nd day of November 1987.

DENYS R. M. PINFOLD,
Director, Standards Association of New Zealand.
