PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft amendments are being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification

DZ 3111/A1 Draft Amendment No. 1 to NZS 3111:1986 Methods of test for water and aggregate for concrete. Gratis.

DZ 3112:Pt. 2/A1 Draft Amendment No. 1 to NZS 3112:---- Methods of test for concrete Part 2: 1986 Tests relating to the determination of strength of concrete. Gratis.

These draft amendments have been issued as a consequence of NZS 1021 having been superseded by NZS 6507 relating to the force verification of materials testing machines.

DZ 4402/Supp. 1 Supplement No. 1 to NZS 4402: 1986 Methods of testing soils for civil engineering purposes. $11.00 (incl. GST).

This draft document contains the following proposed additional methods of test for inclusion in NZS 4402:

4.2 Determination of the minimum and maximum dry densities and relative density of a cohesionless soil.
Test 4.2.1 Minimum dry density.
Test 4.2.2 Maximum dry density.
Test 4.2.3 Relative density.

6.5 Determination of the penetration resistance of a soil.
Test 6.5.1 Standard penetration test (SPT).
Test 6.5.2 Hand method using a dynamic cone penetrometer.
Test 6.5.3 Cone penetration resistance using a cone or a friction cone.

It is expected that further methods of test will be issued from time to time. These additional tests will be issued as supplements to NZS 4402.

It should be noted that Part 1 of NZS 4402 should be read in conjunction with these tests.

All persons who may be affected by these publications and who desire to comment thereon may obtain copies from the Standards Association of New Zealand, Wellington Trade Centre, 181-187 Victoria Street (or Private Bag), Wellington.
