Syllabus for Schools: Mathematics: Forms 1 to 4 (1987)
This syllabus, compared with the previous one, gives high priority to the learning and maintenance of basic computational and manipulative skills. Mathematics is also seen as having close links with the student’s environment. The application, where possible, of mathematical skills and knowledge to everyday situations is recommended in the syllabus. At the same time, the syllabus lays foundations for further study in the subject, and provides the mathematical tools required by other subjects.
The syllabus identifies material to be covered by all students by the end of Form 4 and makes suggestions for enrichment and extension material for more able students.
Copies of syllabus for schools: Mathematics: Forms 1 to 4 will be issued to all schools during 1987. Additional copies may be obtained from the Government Printing Office bookshops.
