Open Season for Game in Acclimatisation Districts North Island and South Island
PURSUANT to the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal Affairs declares an open season for game, in the acclimatisation districts, and subject to the conditions, specified in the Second Schedule hereto, except in the closed game areas published in the supplement to the New Zealand Gazette of 28 March 1985, and subject to any amendments in any subsequent Gazette notice, and in this notice.
The attention of sportsmen and others is drawn to the daily game possession limits set forth in the First Schedule hereto and to the provisions of the Wildlife Act 1953 and the Wildlife Regulations 1955.
FIRST SCHEDULE
Daily Game Possession Limit
EXCEPT where all game is labelled with the following details:
(a) The name and address of the person by whom the game was taken;
(b) The number of the licence to hunt or kill game held by the person by whom the game was taken;
(c) The name of the acclimatisation society by which that licence was issued;
(d) The name of the acclimatisation district in which the game was taken; and
(e) The date on which the game was taken;
no person shall have in his possession on any one day game in excess of the following numbers:
North Island and South Island
Saturday, 3 May 1986: The number of game birds specified in the Second Schedule of this notification as the daily bag limit for the acclimatisation district in which the game is taken.
Sunday, 4 May 1986: Twice the number of game birds specified for Saturday, 3 May 1986.
Every subsequent day: The number of game birds specified in the Second Schedule of this notification as the daily bag limit for the acclimatisation district in which the game is taken.
A Waiver of Restrictions on Baiting, and Methods of Taking Game
Baiting For Waterfowl
PURSUANT to section 17 of the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal Affairs approves persons to hunt or kill game of the family Anatidae (waterfowl) during the open season for game in the acclimatisation districts named hereto, where food has been cast, thrown, placed or planted during the 1986 open season for game or during the thirty (30) days immediately prior to the open season for game, subject to the conditions specified below.

Mangonui - Whangaroa Acclimatisation District.
Marlborough Acclimatisation District.
Nelson Acclimatisation District.
North Canterbury Acclimatisation District.
Otago Acclimatisation District.
South Canterbury Acclimatisation District.
Southern Lakes Acclimatisation District.
Stratford Acclimatisation District.
Tauranga Acclimatisation District.
Waitaki Valley Acclimatisation District.
Wanganui Acclimatisation District.
Wellington Acclimatisation District.
West Coast Acclimatisation District.
Whangarei Acclimatisation District.
Magazine Shotguns
PURSUANT to section 18 (1) (c) (iii) of the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal Affairs approves persons to hunt or kill Canada geese within the acclimatisation districts named hereto, with any shotgun of a calibre 12 gauge or less having a magazine of any type not adjusted in accordance with regulations made under this Act, and capable of holding more than one shell. This approval shall apply only during that period of the open season for game following 27 July 1986 and for the purpose of hunting Canada geese. The approval is subject to the conditions specified below.

Camouflaged Rowboats
PURSUANT to section 18 (1) (f) (vi) of the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal Affairs approves persons to hunt or kill game within the acclimatisation districts named hereto, from unmoored camouflaged rowboats, subject to the conditions specified below.

Bay of Islands Acclimatisation District.
Hobson Acclimatisation District.
Mangonui-Whangaroa Acclimatisation District.
Marlborough Acclimatisation District.
Nelson Acclimatisation District.
Southern Lakes Acclimatisation District.
Tauranga Acclimatisation District—applicable only to the estuarine waters of the Tauranga Harbour.
Waitaki Valley Acclimatisation District.
Wellington Acclimatisation District—applicable only for that remaining period of the open season for game for the district, commencing on 5 May 1986.
Whangarei Acclimatisation District.
Conditions

These approvals shall not derogate from the principal conditions specified for each acclimatisation district under the Second Schedule which shall apply.

These approvals will expire at the end of the open season for game specified under the Second Schedule for each acclimatisation district.
