Horowhenua County - Otaki Borough Boundary Definition Notice
1986

PURSUANT to section 48 of the Local Government Act 1974, the
Secretary for Local Government gives the following notice:

NOTICE

1. This notice may be cited as the Horowhenua County - Otaki
   Borough Boundary Definition Notice 1986.

2. The boundaries of Horowhenua County and Otaki Borough
   are hereby defined as set out in the Schedules hereto, those bound-
   aries having been altered by Order in Council published in the New
   Zealand Gazette, 10 March 1983, No. 29, page 683 and which came
   into force on 1 April 1983.

FIRST SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF HOROWHENUA COUNTY

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District containing 1371
hectares, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point
in the middle of the mouth of the Manawatu River and proceeding
generally easterly up the middle line of that river (following the
course of the river through Papangaio Block and the Whirokino
Diversion) to a point in line with the south-western boundary of
Section 389, Town of Fitzherbert, in Block I, Arawaru Survey
District, being also the north-eastern boundary of Tuwhakatupua
IA as shown on ML Plan 890; thence south-easterly to and along
the eastern boundary of Section 44, Block I, Arawaru Survey District,
and along a right line to the intersection of the north-western
boundary of Section 333, Town of Fitzherbert (D.P. 316), with
the western side of Scots Road in Block VI, Arawaru Survey District;
thence south-westerly and south-easterly along the north-western
and generally south-eastern boundaries of Sections 320 and 319, Town
of Fitzherbert (D.P. 316), to a road and the production of the last-
mentioned boundary along that road to the southernmost corner
of the said Section 319 (Trig Station Low Saddle); thence southerly
and south-easterly along the eastern boundary of Section 10, Block

Station AA Arawaru; thence south-westerly along the eastern
boundary of Lot 5, D.P. 10208, along a road side and the northern
boundaries of Lot 4, D.P. 10208, along a road side and the eastern

along the north-west boundary of Section 8 aforesaid to the
easternmost corner of Ngaraia West C18, Section 1; thence north-
westerly along the north-eastern boundary of Ngaraia West C18,
Sections 1 and 2, to and down the middle line of the Ngataiwa
River to a point in the middle of Kents Road, in Block X, Kaitawa
Survey District, along the middle of Kents Road, Ngataiwa Road,
Reikorangi Road, and Elizabeth Street, to a point in line with the
north-eastern boundary of Lot 13, D.P. 34871, and along that
boundary, the north-eastern boundaries of Lots 14, 16, 17 and 18,
D.P. 43617, the north-eastern and north-western boundaries of Lot
1, D.P. 28171, and the south-eastern boundary of the North Island
Main Trunk Railway to and down the middle line of the Waikanae
River as defined on ML Plan 1491 to the sea coast; thence north-
easterly along the line of the mean high-water mark to the point of
commencement; excluding therefrom the Borough of Otaki herein-
after described and the Borough of Levin described in New Zealand
Gazette, 1976, page 2086.

SECOND SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF OTAKI BOROUGH

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District containing 715
hectares, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point
in the middle of the mouth of the Waitohu Stream in Block V,
Waitohu Survey District, and proceeding generally south-easterly
up the middle line of that stream to a point in line with the north-
western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 3364; thence south-westerly to and
along that boundary to the north-eastern side of Tasman Road;
thence south-easterly along that side to the north-western boundary
of Lot 5, D.P. 12156; thence north-easterly along that boundary and
the north-western boundary of Lot 7, D.P. 12156, to the north-
western corner of that lot; thence generally easterly along the
generally northern boundary of the said Lot 7, the western
boundaries of Lots 2 and 1, D.P. 15806, and the northern boundary
of the said Lot 1 to the western side of Te Rauparaha Street; thence
generally north-easterly along that side to the road corner north-
west of the westernmost corner of Pukekaraka 5, along a right line
to the said westernmost corner, and along the south-eastern side of
Convent Road to the northernmost corner of Pukekaraka 5; thence
generally southerly along the generally north-eastern, south-eastern,
and southern boundaries of Pukekaraka 5 to the westernmost corner
of Waitohu 11A; thence generally south-easterly along the south-
western boundaries of the said Waitohu 11A, Waitohu 11D, Waitohu
11C1, the generally northern boundaries of Section 85 and the eastern
boundaries of Sections 85 and 82, Block IX, Waitohu Survey District,
the north-western and south-western boundaries of Manuao Block,
and the south-western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 11972, to and along
the eastern boundary of the North Island Main Trunk Railway; thence
northerly along that boundary to the southern boundary of Lot 2,
D.P. 7971; thence easterly along that boundary and a right line across
State Highway No. 1 to and along the southern side of Waitohu
Valley Road to the western boundary of Lot 23, D.P. 1429; thence
generally southerly along that boundary, the south-eastern boundary
of Lot 1, D.P. 22448, and along the south-eastern boundaries of
Lots 15, 16, and 17, D.P. 23897, to the north-eastern side of Rahui
Road; thence generally north-westerly along that side and its
production to the western side of Freemans Road, along that side
