Boundaries of Christchurch Drainage District Altered

A PROCLAMATION

PURSUANT to section 3 of the Christchurch District Drainage Act 1951, I, the Most Reverend Sir Paul Alfred Reeves, Governor-General of New Zealand hereby proclaim and declare that on 1 January 1987 the area described in the Schedule hereto shall be added to and form part of the Christchurch Drainage District.

SCHEDULE

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, Waimairi District, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the northern boundary of the Christchurch Drainage Board District, in the middle of Spencerville Road, in line with the southernmost portion of the south-eastern boundary of Rural Section 40940, situated in Block III, Christchurch Survey District and proceeding generally north-easterly and westerly to and along the south-eastern and northern boundaries of that Rural Section to its intersection with the eastern boundary of part Reserve 1250; thence generally northerly along the eastern boundary of that Reserve to its intersection with the southern boundary of Kainga Road; thence by right line to and along the western boundary of Rural Section 39264 a distance of 92.35 metres (as defined by S.O. Plan 16461); thence generally westerly and south-westerly along the northern and north-western boundaries of part Rural Section 9650 (as defined by S.O. Plan 16461) to its intersection with the eastern boundary of an unformed road fronting part Reserve 1360 and part Rural Section 9650; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of that unformed road a distance of 122.63 metres (as defined by S.O. Plan 16461); thence westerly by a right line to the intersection of the western boundary of the unformed road with the north-western boundary of Kainga Road; thence generally westerly and south-westerly along the northern and north-western boundaries of part Reserve 1360 (as defined by S.O. Plan 16461) to its intersection with the eastern boundary of an unformed road forming the south-eastern boundary of part Reserve 2695; thence generally south-westerly along the south-eastern side of that unformed road to its intersection with the north-eastern boundary of the Main North Railway; thence generally south-easterly and south-westerly along the north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries of the Main North Railway to the north-eastern boundary of Rural Section 40939; thence south-easterly and southerly along the north-eastern and eastern boundaries of Rural Section 40939 and that last boundary produced to the middle of Spencerville Road; thence easterly along the middle of that road to the point of commencement.

Declaring Land to be Crown Land

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto, was granted to the Superintendent of the Province of Southland on 25 February 1870 in trust for use as a public park and was then vested in the Superintendent of the Province of Otago under the Invercargill Reserves Management Ordinance 1872 and the Invercargill Reserves Management Ordinance Amendment Ordinance 1874

And whereas pursuant to the Invercargill Recreation Reserve Change Ordinance 1875 the said land was reserved for educational purposes

And whereas by section 9 of the Abolition of Provinces Act 1875, the said land was vested in Her Majesty the Queen in trust for the aforesaid purposes

And whereas the said land is not required for the purposes for which it is held

Now therefore pursuant to section 15 (5) of the Education Lands Act 1949, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares that the land in the Schedule hereto shall, as from the date hereof, be Crown land subject to the Land Act 1948 freed and discharged from every educational trust affecting the same.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT—INVERCARGILL CITY

4047 square metres, more or less, being part Section 22, Block I, Invercargill Hundred. Invercargill Recreation Reserve Change Ordinance 1875. S.O. Plan 167.
