The Standards Act 1965—Draft New Zealand Standard
Specification Available for Comment

PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965,
notice is hereby given that the following draft New Zealand standard
specification is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification

DZ 8403 Classification of meat carcasses for sale on the New Zealand
market. $5.00

This draft Standard establishes classifications of meat for sale on
the New Zealand market.

The draft revises NZS 8403:1973 and was prepared by the SANZ
84/7 Meat Grades Committee for use in New Zealand abattoirs by
meat graders for all carcasses sold on the New Zealand market.

As carcass weight is the single most important measurement used
in carcass trading a definition has been included.

Meat is no longer classed as “prime, choice, manufacturing and
standard”. The Meat Grades Committee recommended the
abolishment of stripe marking of carcasses and has introduced a
new scheme. All meat carcasses will be branded with the carcass
type in red ink. Other relevant information, for example the symbol
for the GR criterion, will be either stamped or written on an attached
ticket.

NOTE—The Meat Grades Committee has also decided that this
Standard should be made mandatory by Government.

All persons who may be affected by this publication and who
desire to comment thereon, may obtain copies at the price shown,
from the Standards Association of New Zealand, Wellington Trade
Centre, 181–187 Victoria Street (or Private Bag), Wellington.

NOTE—Payment must accompany all requests for drafts.

The closing date for the receipt of comment is 21 January 1987.

PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965,
notice is hereby given that the following draft New Zealand standard
specification is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification

DZ 5415/A Draft Amendment A to AS 1165:1982 Specification for
traffic hazard warning lamps. $5.00

This draft amendment proposes the declaration of Australian
Standard AS 1165:1982 as a New Zealand Standard and sets out
the changes considered necessary for New Zealand.

NOTE—Payment must accompany all requests for drafts.

The closing date for the receipt of comment is 27 February 1987.
