Pursuant to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft amendment is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification

DZ 5233/A1/1 Draft Amendment No. 1 to NZS 5233 : 1981 Specification for portable ladders (other than timber ladders). Gratis.

An amendment was originally drafted in 1982 but not published. This draft Amendment No. 1 will revise the maximum deflections over the full range of ladder lengths; it will also rearrange the sequence of tests and otherwise clarify the intent of the document.

The Standards Act 1965—Draft New Zealand Standard Specifications Available for Comment

Pursuant to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft New Zealand standard specifications are being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification

DZ 5441 Lighting and retroreflectors for pedal cycles.

Ministry of Transport and DSIR studies show that poor conspicuity of pedal cycles is a significant factor in many accidents with motor vehicles and some bicycle lights and retroreflectors available for purchase are inadequate.

This draft Standard addresses two major aspects: the performance of the lights and retroreflectors as manufactured items and the correct arrangement and fitting to achieve the required conspicuity.
