Advertising the Taking of a Census: Section 31 (5) of the Statistics Act 1975
PURSUANT to section 31 (5) of the Statistics Act 1975, notice is hereby given that a Census of Agricultural Contracting Services (including Landscape Gardeners), which has been approved by the Minister of Statistics, is being undertaken by the Department of Statistics for the year ended 31 March 1985.
The census covers the activities of all businesses (including central and local government) engaged in:
(1) Agricultural, animal husbandry and horticultural services on a fee or contract basis;
(2) The provision, on a fee or contract basis, of agricultural equipment, with the services of drivers and other attendants of this equipment; and
(3) The arranging and planting of gardens and grounds (when it is carried out as a separate business).
It is the duty of the person in charge of each undertaking involved in any of the above activities who has not received a questionnaire within 21 days after the date of this advertisement to inform the Government Statistician that such an undertaking exists.

Environmental Impact Report Notified Martha Hill Gold Mining Proposal Waihi Gold Company
The Commission for the Environment has received an Environmental Impact Report on a proposal by the Waihi Gold Company to develop an opencast mine at Martha Hill, Waihi, and to process ore and dispose of tailings and waste rock near Baxtors Road in the Waihi Basin. The report has been submitted simultaneously with a mining licence application being lodged with the Ministry of Energy.
The report is being audited by the Commission in accordance with the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Procedures. The audit will be addressed to the Ministry of Energy and is to assist that agency to evaluate the environmental implications of the project as part of its consideration of whether, and if so, under what conditions, a mining licence should be granted. The Commission's audit will be published and referred to the Ministry of Energy on or about 8 August 1985.
I invite you to make written submissions to the Commission on the environmental implications of the proposal as described in the report. (You are requested to use A4-size paper and to ensure that handwritten submissions are legible and in dark ink). Submissions should be addressed to the Commission for the Environment, P.O. Box 10-241, Wellington, and should reach the Commission before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 19 June 1985.
