The Standards Act 1965—Draft New Zealand Amendment Available for Comment

PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft amendment is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification
DZ 3606/A1 Draft Amendment No. 1 to NZS 3606:1979 Specification for the manufacture of glue laminated timber. Gratis.

This draft amendment updates obsolete references to adhesives and glue tests, modifies supply of glue test certificates and makes changes to table and text covering adhesives relevant to exposure and conditioning.

All persons who may be affected by this publication and who desire to comment thereon may obtain copies from the Standards Association of New Zealand, Wellington Trade Centre, 15–23 Sturdee Street (or Private Bag), Wellington.

The closing date for receipt of comment is 5 June 1985.

The Standards Act 1965—Draft New Zealand Standard Specification Available for Comment

PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft New Zealand standard specification is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification
DZ 5824/A1 Draft Amendment No. 1 to NZS 5824:1983 Light-duty protective footwear for women. Gratis.

This draft amendment amends the toe-cap clearances specified for impact resistance, allowing graded clearances for different insole lengths. A new requirement for adhesion of outsole or midsole to the upper is introduced. These changes align the Standard more closely with the requirements for light-duty footwear in AS 2210:1980 (Safety Footwear).

The Standards Act 1965—Draft New Zealand Amendment Available for Comment

PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft amendment is being circulated.

DZ 5423/A1 Draft Amendment No. 1 to NZS 5423:1980 Specification for retreading car, truck and bus tyres. Gratis.

This draft amendment replaces the performance requirements of retreaded tyres with an adhesion test between the “new tread” and the “buffed” casing; it also permits an increase in the number of repairs from 2 to 4 for truck and bus tyres.

The Standards Act 1965—Draft Amendments to New Zealand Standard Specifications Available for Comment

PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft amendments are being circulated.

Number and Description of Draft
DZ 5809/A2 Draft Amendment No. 2 to NZS 5809 Specification for safety footwear with protective toecaps. Gratis.

Draft Amendment No. 2 amends several requirements to align NZS 5809 with AS 2210:1980 Safety footwear. The requirements amended are:

(i) Adhesion of the outside or midsole to the upper
(ii) Thread specifications and strengths
(iii) Thickness of upper materials for heavy duty footwear.

Adhesion forces for ethylene vinyl acetate soles are specified and the thickness of cleated outsoles for waterproof safety footwear is amended.
