Porirua Regional Community College Notice 1985

PURSUANT to section 69 of the Education Act 1964, the Minister of Education gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. (1) This notice may be cited as the Porirua Regional Community College Notice 1985.
    (2) This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.

  2. In this notice, unless the context otherwise requires, “Porirua region” means that part of the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand within the boroughs of Kapiti and Tawa, the city of Porirua, the HorokiwI Riding of Hutt County and the Waikanae District Community Council of the Horowhenua County.

  3. There shall be a board of governors to be known as the Porirua Regional Community College Council which shall control the Porirua Regional Community College.

  4. The Porirua Community College Council shall be constituted as follows:

(a) One member appointed by the Takapuahia Marae Committee (Inc.);

(b) One member appointed jointly by the Hongoea Marae Committee (Inc.), Maraeroa Marae Committee (Inc.), Horouta-ki-Poneke (Inc.) and Whakarongotai Marae Committee;

(c) One member, who shall be a woman and be resident in the region serviced by the college, appointed by the Maori Women’s Welfare League (Inc.);

(d) One member, appointed by the Director-General of Education, after consultation, to represent the Cook Island community;

(e) One member, appointed by the Director-General of Education, after consultation, to represent the Tokelauan community;

(f) One member, appointed by the Porirua City Council;

(g) One member, appointed by the Tawa Borough Council;

(h) Two members, one of whom shall be a woman, appointed jointly by the Kapiti Borough Council, Kapiti College Board of Governors, Paraparaumu College Board of Governors, the Gold Coast Promotion Council (Inc.), and the Waikanae District Community Council.

(i) One member elected by the governing bodies of Aotea College, Mana College, Porirua College, Tawa College and Viard College.

(j) One member, who shall be resident in the region serviced by the college appointed by the Wellington District Council of the N.Z. Federation of Labour and the Combined State Unions;

(k) One member, who shall be resident in the region serviced by the college appointed by the Porirua Business Development Council in consultation with associations of employers in local industries and commerce;

(l) One member, who shall be resident in the region serviced by the college, appointed by the Wellington Hospital Board to represent the health related needs of the community;

(m) One member, who shall be resident in the region serviced by the college, appointed jointly by the Porirua and Kapiti Branches of the New Zealand Nurses Association (Inc.);

(n) One member who shall be the Principal of the Porirua Regional Community College;

(o) One member who shall represent the staff of the Porirua Regional Community College and who shall be elected by the full-time tutors and full-time ancillary staff employed by the Council and who shall be a full-time staff member employed by the Council;

(p) (i) One member, who shall be a student of the Porirua Regional Community College and who shall be elected by the students of the college;

(ii) The member appointed pursuant to subparagraph (i) of this paragraph shall hold office from the 1st day of February in the year of his appointment until the 31st day of January in the subsequent year, and if on that date the appointment of a successor has not been notified to the Council that member shall continue to hold office until the date on which the appointment is notified;

(r) Not more than 4 members, co-opted by the Council itself, if and when it thinks fit.

  1. (1) Subject to the provisions of this clause and to the provisions of clause 4 (q) of this notice every member of the Porirua Regional Community College Council shall hold office for a term of 3 years but may, from time to time be reappointed or re-elected.

(2) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in sub-clause (1) of this clause every co-opted member of the Council shall be appointed for such term, not exceeding 3 years, as the Council thinks fit.

(3) Except in the case of a casual vacancy or as otherwise provided in this notice, every member shall hold office until the 15th day of November in the third year after that member’s election or appointment, and if on the 15th day of November the appointment or election of the successor has not been notified to the Council, that member shall continue to hold office until the date on which that appointment or election is notified.

(4) If any member—

(a) Dies; or

(b) Resigns office by giving written notice addressed to the Council or to the Chairman or the Secretary thereof; or

(c) Is absent without leave from the meetings of the Council for 3 consecutive months; or

(d) While holding office becomes ineligible to remain a member by reason of disability, insolvency, neglect of duty or misconduct;

the casual vacancy so created shall be filled as soon as practicable thereafter by the appointment or election of a member in the manner in which the vacating member was appointed or elected. The member appointed or elected to fill the vacancy shall hold office for the residue of the term of office of the member whom that person replaces.

(5) The powers of the Council shall not be affected by vacancy in the membership thereof.

The Traffic (Picton Borough) Notice No. 1, 1985

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1962, the Minister of Transport gives the following notice:

NOTICE

This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Picton Borough) Notice No. 1, 1985.

The roads specified in the First Schedule are excluded from the limitation as to speed imposed by section 52 of the Transport Act 1962.

The road specified in the Second Schedule is declared to be a 70 kilometres an hour speed limit area pursuant to regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976.

So much of the notice under section 3 of the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 1936, dated the 25th day of February 1938* which relates to roads situated within Picton Borough, is revoked.

The notice under section 36 of the Transport Act 1949, dated the 18th day of January 1950†, which relates to an area situated within Marlborough County at Waikawa, is revoked.
