Definition of Areas

Area A1:—Opotiki County, Whakatane and Rotorua Districts, those parts of Matamata and Tauranga Counties that lie within the C.N.I.W.C. District, and all that area of Taupo County that lies to the North of the shores of Lake Taupo and the Napier-Taupo Road (State Highway No. 5).

Area A2:—All that area of the Taupo and Hawkes Bay Counties that lies to the South-west of the Napier-Taupo Road (State Highway No. 5).

Area B1:—All of the Waiapu, Waikohu and Cook Counties.

Area B2:—That part of the Wairoa County that lies within the C.N.I.W.C. District.

Area C1:—All that part of the Taumarunui County that lies within the C.N.I.W.C. District.

Area C2:—All of the Waimarino County and those parts of the Waitotara, Wanganui and Rangitikei Counties that lie within the C.N.I.W.C. District.

Area D:—That area of land in the Wairoa County, bounded by the Wairoa River to the West, the Nuhaka River to the East, the Gisborne/Wairoa Railway to the North, and the sea M.H.W.M. to the South.

Special Conditions

  1. With the exception of freehold waters it shall be an offence to hunt or kill game from unmoored boats during the opening weekend only, being Saturday, 5 May 1984, and Sunday, 6 May 1984.

Closed Game Areas

Delete:
(7) Lake Maraetai, and all land within 100 metres of the shore including the Kapoka Stream to the bridge on the Whakamaru-Tokoroa Highway, and to a point on the Mangakino Stream delineated by two marker posts upstream from the road bridge on that stream.

Add:
(28) The Kopakorahi Stream, from its outlet into Lake Maraetai to the bridge on the Whakamaru-Taupo Highway (Mangakino Road), and all land within 100 metres of its banks.

(29) All that part of Lake Maraetai, extending 50 metres into the lake and 50 metres back from the shoreline, from a point at the eastern end of the area known as Sandy Bay, and generally along the western and southern sides of Lake Maraetai to the Maraetai Dam; including the Mangakino Stream to a point upstream of the Mangakino-Whakamaru Road (State Highway 30) bridge, as marked by white posts; and the area known as Matekuri Island.
