Open Season for Game in Acclimatisation Districts North Island and South Island

PURSUANT to the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal Affairs declares an open season for game, in the acclimatisation districts, and subject to the conditions specified in the Second Schedule hereto, excepting the closed game areas published in the supplement to the New Zealand Gazette of 6 March 1980, and subject to any amendments in any subsequent Gazette notice, and in this notice.

The attention of sportsmen and others is drawn to the daily game possession limits set forth in the First Schedule hereto and to the provisions of the Wildlife Act 1953 and the Wildlife Regulations 1955.

FIRST SCHEDULE

Daily Game Possession Limit

EXCEPT where all game is labelled with the following details:
(a) The name and address of the person by whom the game was taken;
(b) The number of the licence to hunt or kill game held by the person by whom the game was taken;
(c) The name of the acclimatisation society by which that licence was issued;
(d) The name of the acclimatisation district in which the game was taken; and
(e) The date on which the game was taken;
no person shall have in his possession on any one day game in excess of the following numbers:

North Island

Saturday, 5 May 1984: The number of game birds specified in the Second Schedule of this notification as the daily bag limit for the acclimatisation district in which the game is taken.
Sunday, 6 May 1984: Twice the number of game birds specified for Saturday, 5 May 1984.
Every subsequent day: The number of game birds specified in the Second Schedule of this notification as the daily bag limit for the acclimatisation district in which the game is taken.

South Island

Saturday, 28 April 1984: The number of game birds specified in the Second Schedule of this notification as the daily bag limit for the acclimatisation district in which the game is taken.
Sunday, 29 April 1984: Twice the number of game birds specified for Saturday, 28 April 1984.
Every subsequent day: The number of game birds specified in the Second Schedule of this notification as the daily bag limit for the acclimatisation district in which the game is taken.

A Waiver of Restrictions on Baiting, and Methods of Taking and Shooting of Game Not in Flight

Baiting for Waterfowl

PURSUANT to section 17 of the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal Affairs approves persons to hunt or kill game of the family Anatidae (waterfowl) during an open season for game in the acclimatisation districts named hereto, where food has been cast, thrown, placed or planted during the 1984 open season for game, or during the period thirty (30) days immediately preceding the 1984 open season for game, and subject to the conditions specified below:

Auckland Acclimatisation District.
Bay of Islands Acclimatisation District.
Central North Island Wildlife Conservancy.
Hawera Acclimatisation District.
Hawke’s Bay Acclimatisation District.
Hobson Acclimatisation District.
Mangonui-Whangaroa Acclimatisation District.
Marlborough Acclimatisation District.
Nelson Acclimatisation District.
North Canterbury Acclimatisation District.
Otago Acclimatisation District.
South Canterbury Acclimatisation District.
Southern Lakes Acclimatisation District.
Tauranga Acclimatisation District.
Waitaki Valley Acclimatisation District.
