Notice Prohibiting the Taking of Mussels from Ohiwa Harbour
(Notice No. 3169; Ag. 9/2/0/2)
PURSUANT to section 85 of the Fisheries Act 1983, I hereby declare
a closed season for Ohiwa Harbour in respect of mussels over a
term commencing on the date of publication of this notice and
ending with the 31st day of March 1986.

1983, I hereby declare that the sum payable by each acclimatisation
society to its Island Council in respect of each licence issued by it
shall be as follows:

Notice Specifying Fish Species Which May be Farmed (Notice
No. 3175; Ag. 9/2/0/2)
PURSUANT to regulation 2 of the Freshwater Fish Farming
Regulations 1983, I hereby declare the following species to be fish
for the purposes of those regulations:
(a) Salmon, being—
(i) Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar):
(ii) Quinnat salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha):
(iii) Sockeye salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka):
(b) Eels (Anguilla dieffenbachii and Anguilla australis):
(c) Freshwater crayfish or koura (Paranephrops planifrons and
Paranephrops zealandicus):
(d) Spiny or red rock lobster (Jasus edwardsii), and packhorse or
green rock lobster (Jasus verreauxi).

The Water Recreation (Upper Clutha River) Notice 1984
I, Beryl Ann Ranger, Senior Executive Officer (Harbours and
Foreshores), pursuant to the Water Recreation Regulations 1979*
and in exercise of powers delegated to me pursuant to sections 8
and 9 of the Ministry of Transport Act 1968, hereby give the
following notice:
NOTICE
-
(a) This notice may be cited as the Water Recreation (Upper
Clutha River) Notice 1984.
(b) This notice shall come into force 14 days after its publication
in the New Zealand Gazette and shall remain in force until revoked
by further notice in the Gazette. -
Subject to the conditions set forth in the Second Schedule hereto,
regulations 7 (1) (a), 7 (1) (b), and 7 (2) of the Water Recreation
Regulations 1979 shall not apply to those areas as specified in the
First Schedule between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. extending
to 6 p.m. during New Zealand Daylight time.
FIRST SCHEDULE
ALL the waters of the Upper Clutha River situated in Blocks 4, 5,
and 11 Lower Wanaka Survey District and Blocks 6, 7, and 8, Lower
Hawea Survey District, from the county boundary between Lake
and Vincent Counties near Lake Wanaka outlet, downstream to the
road bridge crossing the Clutha River north of Luggate. The above
area is more particularly shown on plan MD 16214 deposited in
the office of the Secretary for Transport at Wellington.
SECOND SCHEDULE
-
Notwithstanding any other provision of this notice, no person
who is permitted by any such provision to propel or navigate a
small craft at a speed through the water exceeding 5 knots shall do
so in any manner that is likely to endanger or unduly annoy any
person who is in, on, or using the waters, or fishing, or undertaking
any recreational activity in the vicinity of the small craft. -
That all craft exceeding 5 knots when approaching fishermen
keep as far as possible to the centre of the river so as to cause the
minimum of disturbance to fishermen on the banks. -
All persons in charge of a vessel shall adhere to and keep the
provisions of all other Acts and regulations not specifically exempted
by this notice. -
A suitable notice as may be approved by the Regional Marine
Officer, Ministry of Transport, Christchurch, shall be erected at sites
deemed necessary by the Regional Marine Officer.
