Local Authorities Loans Act 1956—Rates of Interest Applicable to Loans which are Subject to the Local Authorities Loans Exemption Order 1983

PURSUANT to section 3A (3) of the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956 (as inserted by section 3 of the Local Authorities Loans Amendment Act 1982), notice is hereby given that the Local Authorities Loans Board (the “Board”) has determined as follows:

  1. This general determination shall:

(a) Apply to all money which any local authority may borrow other than money borrowed before the 9th day of November 1984 by way of special loan and for which pursuant to the Local Authorities Loans Exemption Order 1983 it is exempted from obtaining the sanction of the Board and the consent of the Minister of Finance;

(b) Notwithstanding subclause (a) hereof, not apply to special loans wholly funded by the Housing Corporation of New Zealand or the Rural Banking and Finance Corporation of New Zealand.

  1. The rate or rates of interest, that may be paid by any Hospital Board in respect of any such money borrowed by it, shall be such as shall not produce to the lender or lenders a rate or rates of interest exceeding the following rates:

(a) For money borrowed for any period of 1 or 2 years, 15 percent per annum;

(b) For money borrowed for any period of 3, 4 or 5 years, 15.5 percent per annum;

(c) For money borrowed for any period of 6 years or more, 16 percent per annum.

  1. The general determination made by the Board and published in the Gazette on the 16th day of August 1984 at page 3181 is hereby cancelled.

Commerce Act 1975

NOTICE is hereby given of Decision No. 100 of the Commerce Commission dated 6 November 1984. By this decision the Commission consented to the merger or takeover proposal whereby Alex Harvey Industries Limited may acquire all the share capital of Smith and Smith Limited subject to 2 conditions as detailed below:

(i) AHI undertakes that in respect of the supply of all goods sold or supplied by AHI (and its subsidiaries) to its S & S Division that it will not give to its S & S Division any preferential supply, prices, terms or conditions which other customers of AHI (and its subsidiaries) purchasing or receiving goods of the same kind are not entitled to receive.

(ii) AHI undertakes that neither AHI nor any of its subsidiaries will support, nor be a party to any agreement, arrangement or understanding with any other glass merchant as to the supply, prices or conditions which it will charge for any or all of the products sold by its S & S Division.

CNG Fuel System Approvals

PURSUANT to regulation 90B of the Traffic Regulations 1976* (as inserted by the Traffic Regulations 1976, Amendment No. 7) and pursuant to the powers delegated to me by the Secretary for Transport, I, Robert Norman Abram, Chief Automotive Engineer, hereby approve the components listed in the Schedule hereto for inclusion in any CNG fuel system installed and operated in accordance with the requirements of New Zealand Standard NZS 5422 Part 2 1980 (and any standard made in amendment thereto or in substitution therefor).

Notice of Intention to Assign Place Names by the New Zealand Geographic Board

PURSUANT to section 12 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946, notice is hereby given of the intention of the New Zealand Geographic Board to assign the names set out in the first column of the Schedule hereto.

Pursuant to section 13 of the said Act, any person objecting to any such proposed name may, at any time within a 3-month period from the date of publication of this notice in the Gazette, give to the Secretary of the Board, care of the Department of Lands and Survey, Private Bag, Wellington, notice in writing of their objection. Plans showing the location of the features may be inspected at the office of the Chief Surveyor for the Department or at the office of the Secretary of the Board.

If no objections are received by the Board within the aforesaid period of 3 months, the Board’s decision as to any of the said proposed names will be final.
