BS 3456:— The testing and approval of household electrical appliances—
Part A: Heating and cooking appliances—
Section A1: 1966 General requirements (including Amendments No. 1 to No. 4). Declared suitable subject to any radio-interference suppression devices complying with subclause (4) of regulation 126 of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.
Part 1: 1969 General Requirements (including Amendments No. 1 to No. 5). Declared suitable subject to the following conditions:
(i) Clause 2.17 being deleted and replaced with “Extra-low voltage” means any voltage normally not exceeding 32 volts alternating current or 50 volts direct current.
(ii) any radio-interference suppression device complying with subclause (4) of regulation 126 of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.
Part 2 Particular requirements—
Section 2.5: 1970 Shavers, hair clippers and similar appliances (including Amendments No. 1 and No. 2).
Section 2.8: 1970 Portable immersion heaters (including Amendment No. 1). Declared suitable only in respect of aquarium heaters.
Section 2.12: 1970 Spin extractors (including Amendments No. 1 to No. 3).
Section 2.13: 1970 Tumbler Dryers.
Section 2.20: 1971 Electric floor polishers (including Amendment No. 1).
Section 2.28: 1973 Food preparation machines including mixers, coffee grinders and coffee mills (including Amendment No. 1).
Section 2.32: 1974 Mains-operated electric lawnmowers (including Amendments No. 1 and No. 2).
Part 3 Complete particular specifications—
Section 3.1: 1979 Irons, ironers and pressing machines (including Amendment No. 1).
Declared suitable subject to:
(i) deleting “42V” in subclause 2.21 and substituting “32V a.c. or 50V d.c.”.
(ii) deleting subclause 2.22 and substituting the following:
2.22 Safety extra-low voltage supply denotes a supply obtained from a source which is independent of the supply mains, or from the supply mains through a safety isolating transformer or converter with separate windings, this supply being such that the no-load voltage does not exceed 32V a.c. or 50V d.c. between conductors.
(iii) Clause 8.4. complying with Regulation 107 of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.
(iv) deleting “34” in clause 8.9 and substituting 32V a.c. or 50V d.c.
(v) Any associated accessory being of a type not prohibited from use in New Zealand.
Section 3.3: 1979 Vacuum cleaners and water suction cleaning appliances (including Amendment No. 1).
Section 3.19: 1980 Appliances for heating liquids (including Amendment No. 1). Declared suitable subject to the following condition: Compliance with regulation 107 of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.

BS 3861:— Electrical safety of office machines—
Part 1: 1965 General requirements and tests for earthed equipment (including Amendments No. 1 to No. 6).
Part 2: 1968 Requirements and tests for machines presenting special hazards (including Amendments No. 1 to No. 3).
Part 3: 1970 General requirements and tests for double insulated and all insulated equipment (including Amendments No. 1 and No. 2).

BS 3953: 1976 Synthetic resin bonded woven glass fabric laminated sheet (including Amendment No. 1).

BS 5311:— Specification for a.c. circuit-breakers of rated voltage above 1 kV—

BS 5415:— Safety of electrical motor-operated industrial cleaning appliances—
Part 1: 1976 General requirements (including Amendments No. 1 to 4). Declared suitable subject to:
(i) Any radio-interference suppression devices complying with subclause (4) of Regulation 126 of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.
(ii) The current ratings and cross-sectional areas of flexible cords referred to in clause 25.6 complying with Table 22M in the handbook to the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.
(iii) Subclause 2.15 and 2.16 complying with the definition of “Extra-low voltage” referred to in Regulation 2.

Part 2: Particular requirements—
Section 2.2: 1976 Vacuum cleaners wet and/or dry (including Amendments No. 1 and No. 2)

BS 5501:— Electrical apparatus for potentially explosive atmospheres—Part 7: 1977 Intrinsic safety “i” (including Amendments No. 1 to No. 3). Declared suitable subject to the despatch in clause 9 for exemption from a type test on the spark test apparatus being carried out by a recognised testing authority.

AS 1021–1980 Protection by purging of electrical equipment for explosive gas atmospheres.
AS 1136–1980 Switchgear and control gear assemblies for voltages up to 1000 V a.c.
AS 1300–1973 Bolted flameproof cable coupling devices for use in coal mines (including Amendment No. 1 and Corr).
AS 1308–1973 Thermostats and over-temperature energy cutouts for electric hot water heaters (including Amendments No. 1 and No. 2).

AS 3301–1980 Approval and test specification for particular requirements for microwave ovens. (including Amendment No. 1).

Canadian Standard
CSA C22.2 No. 5–1963 Service entrance and branch circuit breakers.

International Commission of Rules for Approval of Electrical Equipment
CEE Publication 20: Parts 1, 1976 and 11, 1977: Hand-held motor-operated tools. Declared suitable subject to:
(i) Any plug or flexible cord connector is of a type not prohibited from use in New Zealand; and
(ii) Any radio interference suppression device complies with regulation 126 (4) of the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976.

Japanese Standard
JIS C8371–1980 Residual current operated circuit breakers.
