Commerce, and the Wellington Manufacturers Association (Gisborne Branch);
(g) One member appointed by the Gisborne District Trades Council;
(h) One member appointed by the Federated Farmers of New Zealand (Gisborne-Wairoa Province) Incorporated;
(i) Two members appointed by the Tairawhiti District Maori Council, one of whom shall be appointed in consultation with the Tairawhiti Regional Council of the Maori Women’s Welfare League;
(j) One member appointed by the National Council of Women (Gisborne) Inc.;
(k) One member who shall be the principal of the Tairawhiti Community College and who shall be a permanent appointment to the council;
(l) One member, who shall be employed by the council, shall be chosen from and elected by the full-time staff employed by the council, and by those part-time teachers employed on a 0.5 pro rata basis or those who undertake at least 400 class contact hours per year, and by those ancillary staff who are employed for at least 20 hours per week by the council, to represent the staff of the Tairawhiti Community College;
(m) (i) One member who shall be a student of the Tairawhiti Community College and who shall be elected by students of the college:
(ii) The member elected pursuant to subparagraph (i) of this paragraph shall hold office for a term of 1 year from the 1st day of April until the 31st day of March in the subsequent year, but if on that date the election of a successor has not been notified to the council, that member shall continue to hold office until the date on which that election is notified.
(n) Not more than 4 members co-opted by the council itself, if and when it thinks fit, in order to ensure balanced representation from the East Coast region as a whole.
- (1) Subject to the provisions of this clause and to the provisions of clause 4 (k) and (m) of this notice, the members of the Tairawhiti Community College Council shall hold office for a term of 3 years but may from time to time be reappointed or re-elected.
(2) Every co-opted member of the council shall be appointed for such term not exceeding 3 years as the council thinks fit.
(3) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in subclause (1) of this clause, the term of office of the following members shall be determined as follows:
(a) the 4 members appointed pursuant to clause 4 (a), (b), (c) and (d) of this notice shall hold office until the 31st day of October 1983;
(b) the 4 members appointed pursuant to clause 4 (e), (f), (g) and (h) of this notice shall hold office until the 31st day of October 1984; and
(c) the 3 members appointed pursuant to clause 4 (i) and (j) and the member elected pursuant to clause 4 (l) of this notice shall hold office until the 31st day of October 1985.
Thereafter, except in the case of a casual vacancy or as otherwise provided in this notice, every member shall hold office until the 31st day of October in the third year after the year of his appointment or election, and if, on the 31st day of October, the appointment or election of his successor has not been notified to the council, he shall continue to hold office until the date on which that appointment or election is so notified.
(4) If any member dies or resigns his office by writing under his hand addressed to the council or the chairman or the secretary thereof or is absent without leave from the meetings of the council for 3 consecutive months or while holding office becomes ineligible to remain a member by reason of disability, insolvency, neglect of duty, or misconduct, the casual vacancy so created shall be filled, as soon as practicable thereafter, by the appointment or election of member in the manner in which the vacating member was appointed or elected, and the member appointed or elected to fill the vacancy shall hold office for the residue of the term of office of the member whom he replaces.
(5) The powers of the council shall not be affected by any vacancy in the membership thereof.

The New Zealand Technical Correspondence Institute Notice 1983
PURSUANT to section 69 of the Education Act 1964, the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice.
NOTICE
- (1) This notice may be cited as the New Zealand Technical Correspondence Institute Notice 1983.
(2) This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.

There shall be a board of governors for the New Zealand Technical Correspondence Institute, which shall be known as the New Zealand Technical Correspondence Institute Council, and which shall be constituted as follows:
(a) The Director-General of Education or that person’s deputy who shall be a permanent appointment to the council;
(b) The Commissioner of Apprenticeship, or that person’s deputy who shall be a permanent appointment to the council;
(c) One member appointed by the Minister of Education on the nomination of Federated Farmers of New Zealand Incorporated;
(d) One member appointed by the Minister of Education on the nomination of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation Incorporated;
(e) One member appointed by the Minister of Education on the nomination of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation Incorporated;
(f) One member appointed by the Minister of Education on the nomination of the New Zealand Federation of Labour;
(g) One member who shall be the principal of the New Zealand Technical Correspondence Institute who shall be a permanent appointment to the council;
(h) One member who shall represent the teaching staff of the New Zealand Technical Correspondence Institute, and who shall be elected by tutors employed by the council, and who shall be a tutor employed by the council;
(i) One member who shall represent the ancillary staff of the New Zealand Technical Correspondence Institute and who shall be elected by the ancillary staff employed by the council and who shall be a member of the ancillary staff employed by the council;
(j) One member co-opted by the council itself, if and when it thinks fit.

(1) Subject to the provisions of this clause and to the provisions of clause 2 (a), (b) and (g) of this notice, every member of the New Zealand Technical Correspondence Institute Council shall hold office for a term of 3 years but may, from time to time, be reappointed or re-elected.
(2) Every member of the New Zealand Technical Correspondence Institute Council, except the members referred to in clause 2 (a), (b) and (g) of this notice, shall hold office until the 31st day of July 1983. If on that date the appointment or election of the successor to a member has not been notified to the council that member shall continue to hold office until the date on which the appointment or election is so notified.
(3) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in subclause (1) of this clause, the term of office of the following members shall commence on the 1st day of August 1983 and shall expire as follows:
(a) the member to be appointed pursuant to clause 2 (d) and the member to be elected pursuant to clause 2 (i) of this notice shall hold office until the 31st day of July 1985;
(b) the member to be appointed pursuant to clause 2 (e) and the member to be elected pursuant to clause 2 (h) of this notice shall hold office until the 31st day of July 1986; and
(c) the 2 members to be appointed pursuant to clause 2 (e) and (f) of this notice shall hold office until the 31st day of July 1987.
Thereafter, except in the case of a casual vacancy, or as otherwise provided in this notice, every member shall hold office until the 31st day of July in the third year after that member’s election or appointment, and if on the 31st day of July the appointment or election of the successor has not been notified to the council, that member shall continue to hold office until the date on which that appointment or election is so notified.
(4) If any member dies or resigns office by giving written notice addressed to the council or the chairman or the secretary thereof, or is absent without leave from the meetings of the council for 3 consecutive months, or while holding office becomes for any reason ineligible to remain a member by reason of disability, insolvency,
