and the full-time ancillary staff employed by the Council,
and who shall be a full-time staff member employed by
the Council.
(k) (i) One member who shall be a student of the Nelson Poly-
techic and who shall be appointed by the Nelson Poly-
technic Students' Association for a term of office of 1 year.
(ii) The member appointed pursuant to subparagraph (i) of this
paragraph shall hold office from the 1st day of June until
the 31st day of May in the subsequent year, and if on that
date the appointment of a successor has not been notified
to the Council, that member shall continue to hold office
until the date on which that appointment is notified.
(l) Three members to be co-opted by the Council itself, if and
when it thinks fit.
- (1) Subject to the provisions of this clause and the provisions
of clause 3 (i) and (k) of this notice, the members of the Council
of the Nelson Polytechnic shall hold office for a term of 3 years,
but may, from time to time, be reappointed or re-elected.
(2) (a) Every member of the Council of the Nelson Polytechnic,
except the member referred to in clause 3 (i) of this notice, shall
hold office until the 31st day of May 1983. If on that date the
appointment or election of the successor to a member has not been
notified to the Council that member shall continue to hold office
until the date on which that appointment or election is so notified.
(3) (b) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in
subclause (l) of this clause, the term of office of the following mem-
bers shall commence on the 1st day of June 1983 and shall expire
as follows:
(a) The 2 members to be appointed pursuant to clause 3 (a) and
(d) and one of the 2 members to be elected pursuant to
clause 3 (h) of this notice shall hold office until the 31st
day of May 1984.
(b) The 2 members to be appointed pursuant to clause 3 (c) and
(f) and the 2 members to be elected pursuant to clause 3 (g)
and (j) of this notice shall hold office until the 31st day of
May 1985.
(c) The 2 members to be appointed pursuant to clause 3 (b) and
(c) and the remaining member to be elected pursuant to
clause 3 (h) of this notice not being the member to be
elected pursuant to clause 3 (h) referred to in paragraph (a)
of this subclause shall hold office until the 31st day of May
1986.
Thereafter, except in the case of a casual vacancy or as otherwise
provided in this notice, every member shall hold office until the
31st day of May in the third year of that member's appointment
or election and if on that date the appointment or election of the
successor has not been notified to the Council, that member shall
continue to hold office until the date on which that appointment
or election is so notified.
(4) If any member dies or resigns his office by writing under his
hand addressed to the Council or the Chairman or the secretary
thereof, or is absent without leave from the meetings of the Council
for 3 consecutive months, or while holding office becomes for any
reason ineligible to remain a member by reason of disability, bank-
ruptcy, neglect of duty, or misconduct, the casual vacancy so cre-
ated shall be filled, as soon as practicable thereafter, by the
appointment or election of a member in the manner in which the
vacating member was appointed or elected, and the member
appointed or elected to fill the vacancy shall hold office for the
residue of the term of office of the member whom he replaces.
(5) Every co-opted member of the Council shall be appointed for
such terms not exceeding 3 years as the Council thinks fit.
(6) The powers of the Council shall not be affected by any vacancy
in the membership thereof.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Minister of Health, acting under
section 19 (1) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975, has authorised the
public health pharmacist named in the Schedule hereto to enter the
premises of any person who carries on the business of a producer,
manufacturer, seller or distributor of any controlled drug, or who
otherwise undertakes the supply or administration of any controlled
drug and to demand the production of, and to inspect any books
or documents relating to dealings in any controlled drug and to
inspect, weigh, measure, and record the stocks of controlled drugs.

PURSUANT to section 7 of the International Air Services Licensing
Act 1947, notice is hereby given that South Seas Airlines of Los
Angeles, California, United States of America, has applied for an
International Air Service Licence to operate an air service for the
carriage of passengers and freight between Honolulu, in the United
States of America, and Rarotonga in the Cook Islands. Further details
of the proposal may be obtained from the Secretary for Transport,
Ministry of Transport, Private Bag, Wellington.
Any person or organisation desiring to make representations
relating to this application must forward those representations in
writing, to reach me on or before the 13th day of June 1983.

PURSUANT to section 69 of the Education Act 1964, the Minister
of Education hereby gives the following notice.
NOTICE
- (1) This notice may be cited as the Manawatu Polytechnic
Notice 1983.
(2) This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication
in the Gazette.
- There shall be a board of governors, to be known as the Mana-
watu Polytechnic Council, which shall control the Manawatu
Polytechnic.
