OPEN SEASON FOR GAME IN A DESCRIBED AREA OF THE FIRTH OF THAMES FOR THE 1983 GAME SEASON

AN open season for game is declared in that area of the Firth of Thames hereinafter named the Firth of Thames Open Game Area and being that area that is enclosed between the boundary of the Auckland Acclimatisation District and a line connecting the points on that boundary by passing through Orere Point on the west side of the Firth and the southern headland of Fantail Bay on the Coromandel Peninsula subject to the conditions specified hereto and in the First Schedule.

Conditions

  1. Game may only be hunted or killed in the Firth of Thames Open Game Area in compliance with conditions specified for the Auckland Acclimatisation District 1983 open season for game.

  2. Any licence authorising the holder to hunt or kill game within the Auckland Acclimatisation District for the 1983 open season for game shall similarly authorise the holder to hunt or kill game in the Firth of Thames Open Game Area.

Grey duck, 25 on opening weekend only being 30 April and 1 May 1983; 20 on every other day

Mallard duck, 25 on opening weekend only being 30 April and 1 May 1983; 20 on every other day

Paradise duck, 4

Grey, shoveler (or spoonbill) and mallard duck, 25 in all on opening weekend only being 30 April and 1 May 1983; 20 in all on every other day

Shooting hours: 6.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Decoy limit: No limit.

Special Conditions

  1. Pursuant to the Wildlife Amendment Act 1981 and subject to the conditions of this notice, approval is given for persons to hunt or kill game from unmoored camouflaged rowboats, within the Bay of Islands Acclimatisation District.

Definition of Areas

Area A—Opotiki and Taupo Counties, Whakatane and Rotorua Districts and that part of the Tauranga County that lies within the Central North Island Wildlife Conservancy District.

Area B—Waiapu, Waikohu and Cook Counties and that part of the Wairoa County that lies within the Central North Island Wildlife Conservancy District. Area B includes Area D.

Area C—Those parts of the Taumarunui, Waimarino, Wanganui and Rangitikei Counties that lie within the Central North Island Wildlife Conservancy District.

Area D—That area of land in the Wairoa County, bounded by the Wairoa River to the west, the Nuhaka River to the north and the Gisborne/Wairoa Railway line to the south.

Shooting hours: 6.15 a.m. to 6.15 p.m.

Decoy limit: No limit.

Special Conditions

  1. With the exception of freehold waters it shall be an offence to hunt or kill game from unmoored boats during the opening weekend only, being Saturday, 30 April 1983, and Sunday, 1 May 1983.
