Open Season for Game in Acclimatisation Districts—North Island and South Island

PURSUANT to the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal Affairs declares an open season for game, in the acclimatisation districts, and subject to the conditions specified in the Second Schedule hereto, excepting the closed game areas published in the supplement to the New Zealand Gazette of 6 March 1980, and subject to any amendments in any subsequent Gazette notice, and in this notice.

The attention of sportsmen and others is drawn to the daily game possession limits set forth in the First Schedule hereto and to the provisions of the Wildlife Act 1953 and the Wildlife Regulations 1955.

FIRST SCHEDULE

DAILY GAME POSSESSION LIMIT

EXCEPT where all game is labelled with the following details:

(a) The name and address of the person by whom the game was taken;

(b) The number of the licence to hunt or kill game held by the person by whom the game was taken;

(c) The name of the acclimatisation society by which that licence was issued; and

(d) The date on which the game was taken;

no person shall have in his possession on any one day game in excess of the following numbers:

Saturday, 30 April 1983: A number of game corresponding to the number specified in this notification as the daily bag limit.

Sunday, 1 May 1983: Twice the number of game specified for Saturday, 30 April 1983.

Every subsequent day: As for Monday, 2 May 1983.

Approval to Hunt or Kill Game During an Open Season for Game Where Food Has Been Cast, Thrown, Placed, or Planted

PURSUANT to section 17 of the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal Affairs approves persons to hunt or kill game of the species listed below during an open season for game in the acclimatisation districts named hereto, where food has been cast, thrown, placed, or planted during the 1983 open season for game or during the period thirty (30) days immediately preceding the 1983 open season for game, and subject to the conditions specified hereto.

Game Species

Grey, shoveler (or spoonbill), mallard and paradise duck, black swan, and Canada goose.

Acclimatisation Districts

Ashburton Acclimatisation District.

Auckland Acclimatisation District.

Bay of Islands Acclimatisation District.

Central North Island Wildlife Conservancy.

Hawera Acclimatisation District.

Hawke’s Bay Acclimatisation District.

Mangonui-Whangaroa Acclimatisation District.

Marlborough Acclimatisation District.

Nelson Acclimatisation District.

North Canterbury Acclimatisation District.

Otago Acclimatisation District.

South Canterbury Acclimatisation District.

Southern Lakes Acclimatisation District.

Southland Acclimatisation District.

Tauranga Acclimatisation District.

Waitaki Valley Acclimatisation District.

Wanganui Acclimatisation District.

Wellington Acclimatisation District.

West Coast Acclimatisation District.

Westland Acclimatisation District.

Whangarei Acclimatisation District.

Conditions

1. The conditions specified for each Acclimatisation District under the Second Schedule shall apply.

2. This approval will expire at the end of the open season for game specified under the Second Schedule for each Acclimatisation District.
