PURSUANT to section 175 (3) and subject to sections 176 to 182 of the Harbours Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council hereby authorises the Bay of Plenty Harbour Board to reclaim an area of 2.5460 hectares, more or less, of Tauranga harbour bed at Mount Maunganui, as shown on plan M.D. 16118 (S.O. 51597) deposited in the office of the Secretary for Transport at Wellington.

The Local Government (Tairua Community Council) Order 1983

THE RIGHT HON. D. MACINTYRE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

WHEREAS there are a number of extraordinary vacancies on the Tairua Community Council: And whereas section 98 (2) (b) of the Local Government Act 1974 requires that Community Council to appoint qualified persons to fill those vacancies: And whereas that Community Council is unable to fill those vacancies as the number of those vacancies is such that that Community Council does not have a sufficient number of members to constitute a quorum: And whereas sufficient provision is not made by or under the Local Government Act 1974 for the filling of extraordinary vacancies in the situation that has occurred in relation to that Community Council:

Now, therefore, pursuant to section 719 of the Local Government Act 1974, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This order may be cited as the Local Government (Tairua Community Council) Order 1983.
    (2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.

  2. Thames-Coromandel District Council to appoint suitably qualified persons to fill extraordinary vacancies on Tairua Community Council—(1) The Thames-Coromandel District Council shall convene a meeting of the electors of the Tairua Community, to be held not later than 6 weeks after the date on which this order comes into force, to choose suitably qualified persons to be appointed to fill the extraordinary vacancies existing, at the time of the meeting, in the membership of the Tairua Community Council.
    (2) The persons chosen, at the meeting of electors convened under subclause (1) of this clause, to fill the extraordinary vacancies existing, at the time of the meeting, in the membership of the Tairua Community Council shall, at a subsequent ordinary or special meeting of the Thames-Coromandel District Council, be appointed by that District Council to fill those extraordinary vacancies.
    (3) Every person appointed, pursuant to subclause (2) of this clause, to fill an extraordinary vacancy shall hold office, by virtue of the appointment, only for the balance of the term of his predecessor.

SEA CADET CORPS

Appointments

Ernest Gray is appointed to a Cadet Commission in the rank of Sub Lieutenant on probation with effect from 15 October 1982, seniority 29 November 1982.
Gary Wayne Hines is appointed to a Cadet Commission in the rank of Ensign on probation with effect from 17 November 1982, seniority 17 July 1982.
Alexander Graham MacFarlane is appointed to a Cadet Commission in the rank of Ensign on probation with effect from 29 November 1982, seniority 29 November 1982.
Russell Arthur John Wilks is appointed to a Cadet Commission in the rank of Ensign on probation with effect from 19 January 1983, seniority 19 January 1983.
Sub Lieutenant Brian Dennis Bucksey is appointed Temporary Lieutenant with effect from 19 October 1982.
Sub Lieutenant Terence Paul Carr is appointed Temporary Lieutenant with effect from 10 January 1983.
Sub Lieutenant James Edward Dunn is appointed Temporary Lieutenant with effect from 10 January 1983.

Promotions

The following officers are promoted to the rank and with seniority from the dates shown:

Ensign L. A. Powell, Sub Lieutenant, 1 December 1982.
Ensign J. Maw, Sub Lieutenant, 1 December 1982.

Extensions

The following officers have been granted extensions to their Cadet Forces Commission until the date shown:

Sub Lieutenant Janice Claudette Sherley, 16 January 1986.
Lieutenant Michael Peter Doole is granted an extension to his Cadet Force Commission and appointment to Command until 1 November 1985.

Retirements

The following officers are compulsorily retired with effect from the dates shown:
Sub Lieutenant Errol James Thompson, 27 January 1983.
Ensign Mark Brougham Jacobs, 27 January 1983.

Resignations

The following officers have resigned their Cadet Forces Commission and are discharged with effect from the dates shown:
Lieutenant Maurice Joseph Lepper, 29 November 1982.
Lieutenant Patrick James Robson, 11 January 1983.
Lieutenant Brian Jack Kidson, 31 December 1982.

Transfer to/from Super List

Lieutenant Trevor Harold Gibson is transferred to the Supernumary List from TS Steadfast with effect from 28 July 1982 for a period of 1 year.
Lieutenant M. J. Barth is transferred to the Supernumary List from TS Calliope with effect from 22 November 1982 for a period of 1 year.
Ensign Lance Munroe is transferred to the Supernumary List from TS Calliope with effect from 22 November 1982 for a period of 1 year.
Lieutenant Paul William Dacombe-Bird is transferred from the Supernumary List to TS Taupo with effect from 14 January 1983.
