Consent Withdrawn for Importation of Fresh Pears from Canada and the U.S.A. (Notice No. 3109, Ag. 12/2/12)

PURSUANT to section 6 of the Plants Act 1970, the Director-General hereby prohibits the importation of fresh pears from Canada and the U.S.A. unless the Director-General is satisfied the importation will not introduce pear psylla (Psylla pyricola) a pest not known in New Zealand. All imports of the above fruit shall be subject to prior approval by permit issued by the Officer in Charge of the Plant Health and Diagnostic Station at Levin.

Consent Withdrawn for Importation of Avocado Fruit From California, U.S.A. (Notice No. 3110, Ag. 12/2/12)

PURSUANT to section 6 of the Plants Act 1970, the Director-General hereby prohibits the importation of avocado fruit from California, U.S.A. as a precaution against introducing avocado blackstreak, a disease not known in New Zealand.

Environmental Impact Report Notified—Whanganui-Kaitoke Natural Gas Pipeline Loop

THE Commission for the Environment has received an Environmental Impact Report on the Natural Gas Corporation’s proposal to construct a pipeline loop between Wanganui and Kaitoke.

In accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Procedures, written submissions are invited on the environmental implications of the proposal.

Submissions should be sent to the Commission for the Environment before 5 p.m. on Friday, 25 November 1983. It is requested that these be made in dark legible script on A4 sized paper.

Copies of the report may also be obtained free of charge from the Administration Officer (Civil), Ministry of Works and Development, District Office, Third Floor, Government Life Building, Ridgeway Street, Wanganui, or from the Commission for the Environment at the address below.

The report may also be inspected at the Wanganui Public Library and at the Kaitoke Primary School Office, Concord Line, Kaitoke (RD Wanganui) as well as at public libraries of the 4 main centres and the 7 university institutions.

The Water Recreation (Lake William) Notice 1983

I, Beryl Anne Ranger, Senior Executive Officer (Harbours and Foreshores), pursuant to the Water Recreation Regulations 1979* and in exercise of powers delegated to me pursuant to sections 8 and 9 of the Ministry of Transport Act 1968, hereby give the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. (a) This notice may be cited as the Water Recreation (Lake William) Notice 1983.

(b) This notice shall come into force on 10 December 1983 and remain in force until 31 March 1984.

  1. Pursuant to regulation 18 (4) of the Water Recreation Regulations 1979 and subject to the conditions set forth in the Second Schedule hereto, the area of water described in the First Schedule hereto shall be reserved for water skiing each Sunday for the term of this notice.

FIRST SCHEDULE

ALL that area of water of Lake William, as more particularly shown coloured green on plan M.D. 16188, deposited in the office of the Secretary for Transport at Wellington.

SECOND SCHEDULE

  1. Notwithstanding any other provision of this notice, no person who is permitted by any such provision to propel or navigate a small craft at a speed through the water exceeding 5 knots shall do so in any manner that is likely to endanger or unduly annoy any person who is in, on, or using the waters, or fishing, or undertaking any recreational activity in the vicinity of the small craft.

  2. All persons in charge of a vessel shall adhere to and keep the provisions of all other Acts and regulations not specifically exempted by this notice.

  3. A maximum of two vessels are to be on the lake at any one time, one of these vessels is to be operated as a rescue vessel only.

  4. All due care and consideration must be taken—
    (a) Not to disturb wildlife;
    (b) Not to affect farm operations; and
    (c) To avoid deposition of litter.

  5. A suitable notice as may be approved by the Regional Marine Officer, Ministry of Transport, Wellington, shall be erected at sites deemed necessary by the Regional Marine Officer.
