OFFICIAL INFORMATION ACT 1982—LEGISLATION
PROTECTING OFFICIAL INFORMATION
SECTION 38 (a) of the Official Information Act 1982, states that a principal function of the authority shall be:
“To review, as a first priority, the protection accorded to official information by any Act, with a view to seeing whether that protection is both reasonable and compatible with the purposes of this Act.”
The authority has already asked Government departments and other organisations to provide it with a schedule listing all Acts administered, identifying those which contain provisions that protect official information and the scope of such provisions, together with penalties, if any, for breaching them. Departments have also been asked to consider whether the protection is reasonable and compatible with the Official Information Act 1982.
The authority now invites written comments from interested bodies and members of the public. Submissions should cover:
- the name of the Act or regulation providing for the protection of the official information,
- the department or organisation involved in administering the Act or regulation,
- the reason the writer considers the provision in the particular Act or Regulation should be modified or repealed,
- the name and address of the writer.
Submissions should be mailed to: The Chief Executive Officer, Information Authority, P.O. Box 10351, Wellington.
Date for final receipt is 16 December 1983.

NEW ZEALAND WOOL BOARD
PURSUANT to regulation 15 of the Wool Industry Regulations 1978, notice is hereby given that the Adjusted Weighted Average Sale Price for the sale held on the 30th day of September 1983 at Christchurch was 306.29 cents per kilogram (greasy basis).
As this price is below the Government’s supplementary minimum wool price of 320 cents per kilogram (greasy basis) the specified percentage for supplementation will be 4.50 percent for all wool sold at auction and nationally for privately sold wool from and including the 30th day of September 1983, until midnight on the day before the next auction sale to be held.
