Notice as Required by the Gas Act 1982 of Franchises Granted

PURSUANT to section 19 (3) of the Gas Act 1982, a description of the areas of the franchises deemed to be held under that section for the supply of gas are hereby published:

GISBORNE GAS COMPANY LTD.

ALL that area within a radius of 8.05 kilometres from the north-east corner of the Government reserve near the Central Post Office, Gisborne.

HASTINGS GAS COMPANY LTD.

ALL that area within a radius of 16.1 kilometres from the north-east corner of Section 220, South Hastings, but not including any land lying to the north of the Ngaruraro River.

NAPIER GAS COMPANY LTD.

ALL that area within a radius of 16.1 kilometres from the site of the gas works situated in Sale Street in the City of Napier.

HAWERA GAS COMPANY LTD.

ALL that area within a radius of 15 kilometres from the Hawera Post Office but excluding all those consumers supplied with gas by the Natural Gas Corporation of New Zealand Ltd., as at the 30th day of April 1982.

AUCKLAND GAS COMPANY LTD.

WITHIN all that area defined as including the City of Auckland and such parts of the suburbs and vicinity thereof within a radius of 20.13 kilometres from a centre at the Post Office, Jean Batten Place, Auckland and also the City of Manukau, the County of Waitemata, and the Boroughs of Helensville and Papakura as those districts were constituted immediately before the passing of the Auckland Gas Company Amendment Act 1968 and also the County of Franklin, the Boroughs of Waiuku, Pukekohe and Tuakau as those districts were constituted immediately before the passing of the Auckland Gas Company Amendment Act 1969.

WANGANUI CITY COUNCIL

WITHIN that area the Wanganui City Council was authorised to supply gas prior to February 1981, including the County Town of Otamatea and the Presbyterian Social Services Kowhainui Home, both situated in Waitotara County.

EAST GAS SUPPLY LTD.

WITHIN all that area defined as the counties of Wairoa and Hawkes Bay and Havelock North, the districts of Waipawa and Waipukurau, and the cities of Napier and Hastings which together were declared to be a region for the purposes of section 20B of the Gas Industry Act 1958, by notice dated the 2nd day of April 1982 and published in the New Zealand Gazette, 7 April 1983, No. 41, page 1175. Also that part of the Manawatu region consisting of the counties of Dannevirke, Woodville and Pahiatua, and the Boroughs of Dannevirke, Woodville and Pahiatua.

PURSUANT to section 24 (7) of the Gas Act 1982, a description of the areas of the franchises granted under that section for the supply of gas are hereby published:

LEVIN BOROUGH COUNCIL

ALL that area within the Boroughs of Levin and Foxton.

NELSON CITY COUNCIL

ALL that area within the boundaries of the City of Nelson.

INVERCARGILL CITY COUNCIL

WITHIN all that area described as the boundaries of Invercargill City shown on page 335 of the 1974, New Zealand Gazette, with additions on page 972 of the 1979, Gazette.

DUNEDIN CITY COUNCIL

WITHIN all that area described in the First Schedule to the Dunedin City Council Electric Lines Licence 1963, notified in the New Zealand Gazette on 17 October 1963, No. 63, page 1603.

PALMERSTON NORTH

WITHIN all that area including the City of Palmerston North, the Borough of Feilding, the Counties of Kairanga, Oroua and Manawatu.

THE NATURAL GAS CORPORATION OF NEW ZEALAND LTD.

NORTHLAND: Within all that area in the Northland region bounded by a line in the south by the northern boundary of the Auckland Gas Company’s franchise area, and in the north by the northern boundary of the Whangarei County, and the eastern boundary of the Hobson County.

Horowhenua: Within all that area in the Horowhenua region south of the southern boundary of the Levin Borough and north of the Hutt Valley Energy Board’s franchise area.

Bay of Plenty: Within all that area being the Bay of Plenty region as defined by the Local Government Act 1974.

HUTT VALLEY ENERGY BOARD

WITHIN all that area defined as firstly, that area in the Wellington Land District comprising the Cities of Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, and Porirua, the Boroughs of Petone, Eastbourne, and Tawa, part of the City of Wellington, part of the County of Hutt, part of Porirua Harbour, part of Wellington Harbour, reclamations and the islands known as Somes Island, Mokopuna Island, and Ward Island, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the mean high-water mark of the sea in line with the south-western boundary of Section 55, Wainui District, in Block III, Packakariki Survey District, and proceeding north-easterly along the mean high-water mark of the sea to a point in line with the northern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 4268, bearing 284° 50';
